Ideas on how to PERMANANTLY bring in flight

Personally I'd like to see how he get's his "Secret Identity" before flight. Would make sense, since the origional superman did not fly.

Also think about this, they need to end the series where the comic book would pick up. So they need to explain how Lex has lost his obsession with Clark and moved onto Superman. That I think would happen through the development of his secret identity. And how is it he puts on glasses and no one recognizes him? I think that should be explained as a power.

Bumping this for valid discussion:

Right now there are two hinted reasons as to what makes Clark fly

1. Chloe's death (as mentioned in Legion and we also get a hint that Chloe dies in Lois's visions)
2. Not saying goodbye to Lois :-)huh:)

have jor-el teach him how to fly, since he'll be in human form this time rather than the supercomputer in the fortress.

as for the secret identity, they could always have something occur that flares up his powers again. I remember the solar flares a few seasons ago did this and it caused his powers to go all crazy. This could lead him to put on glasses shaped from crystals from the fortress to control his heat vision. Have a bunch of people around the office say he looks really different with glasses, Chloe and Lois repeatedly saying he looks like a different person and then have Clark realize that keeping the glasses can help separate his two identities.

I think id at least like to see him accidentally fly this season then continue to try it again after that

At this point, I think the only thing that will make him fly will be once he's ready to become Superman. Chloe's death doesn't make much sense. Jimmy is dead and Clark hasn't flown yet. So the chloe thing doesn't really hold water...

I'd like a few crashing scenes, where he somehow starts floating & trys to control it only to land in a pond or crashing through his barn roof.
I'd like to see him improving, but at the same time I don't want him to be the master of flight inside these scenes.

I'd like his first sustained flight to be some sort of accident about to happen & for him to gain sustained flight as a natural instinct.

I've always wanted to see a plane taking a nose dive towards Metropolis (Daily Planet for convenience) & for Clark to be in a crowd of people looking into the sky at the plane only to have Clark rise out of the crowd towards the plane to catch it

Chances of such a thing happening on Smallvilles budget are slim to none... but seeing as this season appears to have an increased budget based on the amount of effects used already.. I live in hope :)

yea just putting a regular pair of glasses on now really isnt going to work/kick it. As for flying we pretty much have show's reason why stated by jorel. Its more a mental thing then anything else.

Clark flies when Cloe dies, she's the final nudge of self belief he needs.
It's always been Chloe's intention for Clark to fully embrace all his abilities even when he's had no faith in himself.
Chloe will be the event that leads to him finally taking off to stop her killer i think.

thats not the reason lol as i said above we know why he isnt flying right now stated by jorel its more of clark human emotions/feelings are putting a mental block on him accessing the power.

Chloe has nothing to do with it. Jor-El already told him ("Savior") that cause he sees himself as a human, it creates a psychological block that keeps him from flying. Is just a lame excuse from the producers to keep the "no tights, no flights" rule till Clark becomes Superman to end the series.

Sorry , Was my last post in chinese or something ??

Didn't say Chloe had anything to do with him not flying.

As this thread asks - I stated my thoughts/reasons for Clark FINALLY flying will be Chloe.
Guess you both missed the point.
As his human attatchment currently prevents him from flying I believe it will be this same human attatchment to Chloe that will eventually drive him to Fly.
(greatest strength / greatest weakness thing ,She dies & He flies)

Makes sense to me & likely to me alone.

^^ Again, it has nothing to do with her dying or someone else, he's more attached to Lois anyway, not her. He won't fly till he becomes Superman, I don't agree with it (Clark flies before he's Superman in the mythos), but that's the way the producers see it.

Will we see him flying?

Brian: I don’t think we’ll see him flying until he embraces being Superman, that’s what Al and Miles started with, and what we’re trying to carry that. And that will be the final stage - him deciding who he wants to be.

Kelly: And the show is really the journey to that moment.

Are there any other taboos for the show?

Brian: Not really. It’s not really a taboo, but a licensing issue: Batman and Wonder Woman.

if he flies because he has to save someone, it would more likely be Lois than Chloe.

totally it is a bit of a lame excuse and all that it works for in the show reason. Though we know some of the factors in behind the scenes reasoning with no flying.

I guess this thread is more relevant now than ever. What do you guys think will be the thing to make Clark consciously take FULL FLIGHT and in what episode?
