Yes, but you're talking about character motivation, NOT a specific, detailed happening in the comics. Bane breaking Batman's back is a specific thing; specific to that comic story for a reason. In the comic, the reason Batman's back is broken is because Batman has to find a replacement, because he's essentially paralyzed; that's what happens in that story. It would make no sense for Batman's back to be broken in TDKR because the fight begins and ends with Batman. There will be no replacement for Batman in TDKR; he will finish the fight. And also, this story picks up 8 years after TDK. Why in the heck would BAtman come back after 8 years only to have his back broken? Would he sit out another 8 years? LOL! The back breaking makes no sense within the context of TDKR.
I dont think its implied that Batman took 8 years off, its just 8 years in the future
IMO if batmans back doesnt get broken, something will happen to him physically to give him a reason hang up the cape for a period of time
