I figured spideyboy would know if size really does matter.

Only because he tends to be the most vocal against the MU figures and that scale for ML. That is all. :whatever:

Ok, so let's look and some sides to the battle that I've witnessed:

6":
-The majority if not the entirety of most collector's Marvel collection are at the 6" scale (why change it?)
-The level of detail and articulation have a better potential of being superior at this scale
-There are tons of characters who still have not gotten the proper treatment, or any treatment, at this scale
-Visually more appealing
-Easier to customize

3 3/4":
-Takes up less space
-Cheaper (hear that, Target, and your decision to mark ML at $15??)
-Greater variety of characters released at a faster rate
-Allows for more large scale characters (I'm assuming the Gigantic battle thing will be using 6"-12" figures)
-More in scale to many other collectible lines (Now Captain America can be posed with Duke, Indiana Jones, and Luke Skywalker. Wolverine can steal Scarlet and Leia away for some fun behind the Ark of the Covenant!)
-Many, many vehicles and play sets are at this scale
-Tons of potential for vehicles and play sets
-Cases of figures can have larger numbers, thus more availability
-Because it makes Spideyboy angry, that's why it's awesome

I think it does make a difference. I mean, I grew up seeing the GI Joe line being small, and Super Powers slightly bigger, then throughout the years, the superhero lines kept getting bigger and bigger. And hell, look how long it took for Power Rangers to become 5-6"! I like the classics, man! Why would I want to incorporate GI Joe with X-men? Totally different universe. I couldnt have Snake Eyes fighting Wolverine! Though Magneto and Destro teaming up would be pretty sweet.

All in all, bad move.

Size matters to me. You make valid points, Saint, as far as pro reasons for th 3 3/4", but I'm not buying.

My biggest reason is I just simply prefer a larger figure. I have a vast collection and I'm not starting from stratch with cheaper, smaller versions of better figures I already have.

And I wouldn't mix universes anyway. Luke Skywalker and Spider-Man vs Darth Vader and Green Goblin? Who wants to see that?

Again, passing on 3 3/4". Give me 6" or give me nothing.

I like them both, but prefer 3 3/4" figures, I can buy more, takes up less space, and I don't have much space to display figures. I collect both Gijoe & Star Wars, but also collect anything Iron Man, which usually runs in the 6" range, if they can give me the same quality that we are getting with the new GiJoe 25th and Star Wars, then heck yeah, give me 3 3/4" every time.
I also collect the DCU Infinite heros and will be buying the new Fury Files, while I wouldn't cross them with the Star Wars characters, I would with GiJoe and each other.

I hate the excuse that "smaller takes up less space" that's bullcrap. Display wise, most of us arn't getting rid of our legends, buying a whole new line means a whole new shelf. Thus creating even MORE space.

also cheaper? it's saving $3, target and walmart are not charging $15 for figs.. they did that for hulk, and the target wave was reduced back to $10 after they checked themselves. You're saving $3 on a load of crap

more figs mean more money. hasbro knows this, and has you all hook line and sinkered. The smaller the figs, the more they spit out, and at $7 a pop, the more you spend.

smaller figs mean less articulation, smaller figs mean worse paint jobs (smaller the harder to detail), smaller figs mean more botched sculpting.

Smaller figures also mean much more fragile figures, and easier to break.

Smaller figures are also much less visually stunning

not to mention hasbro has you completely rebuying the SAME figures in just smaller scale. why rebuy you're collection again? do you seriously know how much money is being wasted? why do i wasnt a 3 3/4 collection, a 5inch 90's collection, a 6inch collection, and an icon sized collection? i can understand just buying a really small amount, but a whole new collection? I mean come on...

although i don;t really buy many actions figures any more apart from 12" i have to say that biggest let down of the indiana jones line was the fact it was in star wars scale which lead to them looking horrible.

so yes, bigger scales are better. infact i say they should scrap star wars scale all together and make everything 5" just to annoy everyone more

I guess it's a matter of opinion and taste, I don't collect ML scale figures, while I have a few all Iron Man and they look good, (except for maybe the Modern Armor), most of the rest of the ML line , I don't really care for the quality, most looked horrible, IMO, especially when Hasbro took over from Toybiz (including Ultimate Iron Man), they have gotten better, but the first couple waves where not appealing to me.
On the same token, DC has done a great job with there Universe line and I'm impressed, not enough for me to invest $10.00 per figure for characters I know little about like many do who buy whole sets, I buy characters who like, not just any figure at that cost , my collection of DC 6" figures include Ares, Black Manta, Aqua Man and soon Booster Gold.
Now, Hasbro while doing a subpar job with the legends line has done a outstanding job with both GiJoe 25th anniaversay and Star Wars, and i can do a lot more in the way for displaying with a legion of Cobra Troopers or Clone troopers than a I can with a couple JLA figures from the 6" line.
But again to each there own and unlike some, who seem to take it personal when the are disagreed with, I like what I like and you like what you like, to each their own.

HA, see, I would actually buy Star Wars figures again if they went to a 6" scale.

Wow, I thought the first waves of Iron Man Movie figures looked great! I didn't buy any, cuz I'm not that big a fan (I prefer my ML8 Modern IM), but those were great figs.

Why would you invest anything in charactors you know little about?? I don't collect DCUC, but I wouldn't go, "Huh. I don't know who this is, but I'll buy him anyway."

And I don't want to come off as a dick, but I see the DC infinite heroes....and they look like little kids toys. I don't get it.

Yes. Yes and Yes on all points.

I mean really, you guys want to give this up,

Seriously???? If your answer is yes, You guys have fun...

To me the legends just look way better.Plus I've been collecting them since the Spider-man classics days and I'm not about to drop all that just to collect these new ones which pale in comparison. So if this evetually replaces legends then I'm done.I'll collect mighty muggs but besides that My marvel collection would be complete.

I'm collecting the 6" DCUC line. In Canada they are almost impossible to find. However, I've managed to get almost every character I want through travelling and the internet. But now I'm seeing the 3 3/4" DCU figs everywhere! It pisses me off because they're very crappy. I want more 6" figs!!!

-I've been downgrading my 6" collection. I also only use one shelf to "display" my collection now. So, different strokes for different folks. Not everyone is making the MU stuff an addition, but rather a substitute. FTB is switching completely over to MU.

-You can't give an objective opinion, can you? Don't forget there is a ton of 6" crap out there as well for $10.

-Less articulation, poor paint, poor sculpts...sounds like the majority of Hasbro's 6" lines. (I'll admit there have been some solid figures but the articulation across the board has largely been reduced)

-I have not had a 3 3/4" figure from hasbro break, I think. Maybe one or two. I've had more 6" legends break, along with DCUC, than any 3 3/4" figure break.

-What do you define as visually stunning?

-You are very critical of what people choose to buy. No one is telling you 6" is bad...or not to buy it.

No one has to give up anything. That's a moot point.

True. I guess 'give up' is the wrong choice of words, my bad.

It just amazes me that people are so excited over these 3 3/4" figures.

To me, it's like someone (Hasbro, in this case) is saying "OK consumers, we know what you want, but now it's gonna be smaller, and cheaper and more cost effective for us and it'll be a step down from what you like and what you've had for the past 8 years so, but it's gonna be great and you guys are gonna love it."

Bottom line, these new figs are not as good as what I want and what I've been buying for years, and some of you guys, for some reason, can't wait to get your hands on them.

Like SpideyBoy said, "Hook, Line and Sinker"

Wow, I thought the first waves of Iron Man Movie figures looked great! I didn't buy any, cuz I'm not that big a fan (I prefer my ML8 Modern IM), but those were great figs.

-The Iron Man movie figures were great, I have them all, I'm refering to Marvel Legend waves 1- whatever not movie sets.-

Why would you invest anything in charactors you know little about?? I don't collect DCUC, but I wouldn't go, "Huh. I don't know who this is, but I'll buy him anyway."

-But alot of people do, that was my point, people who are collector and defend them so passionatly, collect every figure that come out, and for $10.00 a pop, thats a big investment for little known characters.-

box sets.

But Spidey did bring up one good point...well many, but one that effects me......I didn't pick up icons because I didn't want a whole new scale......

But mainly.....these li'l ones will be here for me.....

And I hide behind my addiction in my decision to get them

Isn't it funny that SuperHero Showdown and the MU line have/will have characters in their waves that over the course of ML's history haven't been made yet??

Now, back to the question at hand. Does size really matter??

My answer is the obvious no. Now I can hear all the crybabies already screamin' at the top of their little SIXinch-er-die lungs "Yer so prahdicktahbull FTB!!! U and yer 3 3/4-lovin self GAHHeerrrrrAGGGHHHH!!!"

Chillax for a sec before u bust a vein in your forehead and mommy starts wondering why there's red stains on the carpet instead of the usual white crusty ones. My reason is simple. And if you've read my post in the NEW HAVES thread its all about what suits ME. I'm spending my money, right??? Well then its simple. ML has let me down, I'm a bitter bastard and I'm supporting not only MU but the downright annihilation of all things ML and anything remotely related. OK, I was slightly kidding. Essentially its because for me its easier to manage smaller figs, I can display more in the same space, its coexists with other lines I support (mainly 25th GI Joe but I have other figs in the same scale) AND I need my Marvel fix. At one point in time I had just about every ML released (not including all variants of course). But I didn't have the room for them so I downsized some. Then like a drone I supported Hasbro ML until I was fed up with sucky figs and unavailability. If ML has something I like I'll gladly snag it, like the Ult Fury/Cap 2-pk for instance.

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, just like Santino sez. Honestly, as much as I loved playing with the 90's TB Marvel/X-Men figs had they made GI Joe sized and styled figs I would've preferred those no doubt. So I'm not jumpin everbody else's *** for staying with ML. If u love it then love it and run with it until Hasbro doesn't pump out anymore. If MU fails and only 3 waves come out and all I have are the ones I decided to get I'll be cool with that because its what I like, and in the end isn't that all that matters??

exactly, it boggles my mind completely. I don't get it at all, I feel, for the first time ever, with collecting action figures, that i'm the only one who's sane while all my buds ive been with for years are simply just "giving up" on the one thing thats united us for forever. I feel like i've lost my mind being the only one who seems sane. I also love how every one suddenly has come up with the conclusion that ML's are done, just because theres been no announcement? come on guys, i've said it before, hasbro never has shown there ML's off this time of year, it's just sad people are suddenly dropping like flies, esp when they use excuses like "cheaper" and "better" when there not.. u save $3 bucks and end up buying more and so spending more, and i've seen them there faces look horrible and they all look like that have hasbro joints everywhere. It's a very very dark day for me to see everyone just "give up".

I just really don't enjoy the fact so many are just dropping like flys now... juse because of these 3 3/4 figs, if this trend is falling suit on other boards.. all because these MU figs.. then yeah that will indeed be the death of ML's and I'm not ready for that, i really don't want it to end up being the last year for them, even though hasbro claims there's still big news in ML's.

Maybe the savings is $3 for you.

For me it's about $4 CAN......but that's before any of this new stuff shows up in Canada if it ever does....what I've heard is that the Foom wave was $20 at retail...so now I'm saving $10.

But keep in mind very little is coming to Canada now....So I'm looking online or from you guys.....toss in shipping....Now by getting MU I am savinf $15 a pieceish.

But then back track all of that....I am not saving a damn thing, because I will still get ML til the cows come home man.

I just ....I don't know...MU is something new....As I've said a lot...I do have an adiction.

I'm not all out abadoning ML. I had already slagged off buying MLs and getting rid of MLs I no longer wanted well before MU was even being considered. Quit get yer panties all bunched up in your gooch spideyboy.
