61 Nights of Halloween (2025 Edition)

I can't wait to see how you react to 2. That one's interesting.
"Hey, do teenagers like Limahl?"

"Who's Limahl?"

"He's the guy who sang the Neverending Story song."

"Whatever, just put the poster up. Is there any more cocaine around?"

- Actual conversation on the set of NOES2, probably.

But seriously, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 is a handful of really weird moments strung together by a mostly boring movie. I actually felt like a character in this universe fighting to stay awake. :o

Next is Dream Warriors, which I've heard is among the better of the sequels.

Easily the best actual sequel imo.

I'm not a big fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series, but a few years ago I rewatched all of them and the one I was surprised the most with was the second one (which I hadn't seen in full since my early 90's).
I don't know exactly the reputation that this movie has among fans but Freddy's portrayal is one of the best in the franchise, scary and sinister like I remembered when I was a kid. I'm also torn between liking how they changed the rules but also completely hating it.

This was a good movie and it definitely lived up to the hype IMO. Indy was great and it's impressive what this director was able to do on such a small budget. I didn't find it all that scary though outside of a few jump scare moments but honestly the real heart and strength of this movie is definitely the bond between a dog and his owner.

The ending was a nice emotional payoff too and I can definitely see it being very effective for certain people.

I was expecting this to be complete trash based off of the IMDB ratings but man I kind of dugg it and I don't think it deserves all the negative reviews it's been getting. It won't be for everybody but I was surprised by how well made and well acted this was.

The cinematography in the first 20 minutes alone is more stunning and looks more cinematic than some bigger budget films that I've seen lately although I guess the lack of onscreen action/violence is what's hurting it for most people as well as the ending just being kind of whatever.

5.5/10

Another film that I had no idea even existed until a couple of days ago which definitely helped eventhough it's nothing special. Dakota was good and I liked it a lot more than the last horror film she was in and Bryan Bertino continues to put out some decent stuff.

I didn't enjoy it as much as The Dark and the Wicked but it's atleast on par with The Monster for me which is a bit underrated IMO.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 was a big step up from 2. The characters were much better written (great debut from Patricia Arquette) and Nancy coming back was cool. My only real disappointment was there wasn't enough Laurence Fishburne. I really thought he had a significant role in this based on the DVD cover but I guess they slapped his face on there for recognition. False advertising at its finest! :cmad:

MaXXXine (2024)

Maxine Minx rides once more. I was initially a bit disappointed by MaXXXine, but I've warmed up to it over time. It's still the weakest link in Ti West's trilogy, but I can't deny its sleazy, glitter-soaked 80s aesthetic or Mia Goth's charismatic performance. It's not as moving or as thematically rich as its predecessors, yet it strikes a satisfying balance between slasher thrills and campy Hollywood excess.

The X trilogy stands as a cornerstone of modern horror, and I can't wait to see what delicious morsel Ti West cooks up next.

Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005)

What if Hellraiser was Saw — but also a bad video game, and The Matrix? Unlike the last two entries in the franchise, Hellworld is fully aware of its ridiculous nature — and it's better for it. There's some fun to be had with how truly bonkers this film is, but the series has lost its identity and any semblance of respectability at this point.

The ending is a special brand of stupid, an endless barrage of twists, each more ludicrous than the last. Poor Lance Henriksen has to deliver dialogue that could send Meryl Streep to an early retirement. At least young Henry Cavill is very pretty. Pinhead, indeed, still has some sights to show us.

Okay, Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5 are...okay. Robert Englund is the best part about each of them, he's really seasoned at this point and you can tell he's having a lot of fun. I was a big fan of the comic book kill in 5. And I thought that creepy kid in 5 looked familiar, so when I looked it up to my surprise I saw he's also the "6 foot turkey" kid from Jurassic Park.

So that's five down, two to go...which aren't on HBO Max. Then there's also Freddy vs. Jason, which I have seen. But then I'll be in an "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" situation where I'll want to watch the Friday the 13th movies too. Hmmm...

Freddy's Dead is a movie of all time.

The Friday the 13th movies are worth it. If you ask me.

Review: What if The Ring, but Video Game. 😱

⭐⭐½

Extra star because I do want a real version of that game. A survival horror MMO.
"If you die in the game... you die for real"

I went to see it at the theater. Why? I don't know... But it has gamer Jimmi Simpson!

Freddy's Dead...

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. A lot of it isn't good but I did like the Freddy backstory scenes and Robert Englund got to chew a lot of scenery here which I'll always welcome. I guess it's just a monkey's paw situation where I found myself wanting more Freddy screentime in 2, 4 and 5 especially and we get that in droves in Freddy's Dead, it's just a shame it couldn't have been a better movie.

The Friday the 13th movies are worth it. If you ask me.
I've seen a good deal of them, even if the original is the only one I've seen in full not counting Freddy vs. Jason or the remake. I was only going to do one series marathon this Halloween but I'm sure there's room for one more with the F13 series.
