They really aren't. Predator has one action scene near the start, and then very little 'til the climax. Die Hard is as much a thriller as an action movie, and contains a lot less action than the sequels.

The 1989 Punisher - now that's action-packed.

Big Trouble in Little China
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!
The Toxic Avenger

Action's in the eye of the beholder, and there's more than one way to express action.

Predator has "Combat Action," "Pursuit Action," and "Tension Action."

Though I do agree about Die Hard.

And if Lundgren just had a skull across his chest, it would've been the Punisher film it should've been.

How come ?:wow:

Sly was almost cast instead of Eddie Murphy.

Here's the story: Sly WAS cast but he wanted to re-write the script. They said, "okay." After they read the re-writes they realized that he was about to ruin the movie. So, they went their seperate ways. Eddie Murphy was cast as Axel Foley and Sly turned his ideas into Cobra.

The rest is history.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!

Damn, there's a movie I haven't thought of in a while! I need to track that down. I still have the Marvel limited series tucked away somewhere...

Man, retro overload.

Time for a few more noms before the poll tomorrow:woot:

Die Hard has already won.

Not really, that's not everyone's top choice, that's just the most common choice. Who's to say that wasn't the third choice of many of the people who nominated it? There's a good 80% chance it will win, but it hasn't yet.

And I think it would be kind of fun or interesting or whatever to see the results of the movies when people can only pick one. For example, many people said Predator, but maybe it's no one's favorite. Or when seeing Rambo decide to pick that, when they wouldn't have thought of that themselves. Who wins isn't the only part of a poll.
