A break from the movies

It's funny how a thread like this get's flammed and anyone that might support the idea is afraid to post in it.

Well saying it wouldn't work is just stupid. That's like saying a show about Clark Kent's childhood wouldn't work.

Problem is a lot of live action TV shows based on comic book chracters have been hokey in the past. The origional batman series for the first example. The flash was antoher bad one. Problem is a lot of times they miss the target audiance by a long shot. Why because they people makin them think they are soley aimed at kids.

They got a good formual in smallville, because they geared it to teens, and males 18 -35 (don't deny it that is the demographic for the show).

They do big budget scifi shows all the time, so mixing cgi and stuntmen to do a spider-man show would be fine. What are we looking at 44 minutes a week They may have to do 15 - 20 minutes of action scenes a week.

The problem would be who they made the demographic for the show and how they would spin it. They should try the computer animated series as a live action. Do it as Peter Parker in college. Make no serious romantic entanglement. Have a doctor Connors character that is his scientific mentor. Aunt May as the mother figure. Have him bounce between, Gwen, Felica and MJ. Dealing with his powers while trying to go to college and work part time as a photographer.

You know a comming of age typ thing like Smallville. If done right it would work. Nothing to do with the movies a sepeate spidey world. I'd watch it.

first of it isn't just a flame war...there are a cohesive set of arguments going on...

second of all...you can't compare Spider-Man to Superman in the effects department...it's a lot easier to make effects believable for x-ray vision, super strength, flight, super speed, and laser vision then there is for webslingning and acrobatics...and almost all the stuff on sci-fi is grade A crap in the effects department.

The budget for a spidey live action TV series that would actually be worth while watching would be waaaay too much money.

I reallllly liked the MTV one, why the hell was it canned? I know, cuz it was on f'ing mtv.

Oooh god that show was great. I have the season on dvd, and I watch it over and over again, it's just that great. Wonder why they didn't do Venom as the season ender instead of the uhhh ... was it Kraven?

They could do Spidey's web swinging & acrobatic moves using a puppet & stop motion animation. It may take a long time to do, but it wouldn't be impossible to do. Before the advancement of cgi the way it is today, maybe they could have done a Spider-Man movie in the past using this technique. Who knows it might have looked terrible or it might have turned out to be alright, but we will never know since they have never attempted to do Spider-Man this way.

You're Joking, right? I don't wanna see muppet Spidey. The movies are doing outstanding, why quit? A Cartoon would work in between movies. Or they could just come out with a Comic-based cartoon.

I think after Spiderman 3, the franchise should take a break from the movies and start a live action TV series. :spidey:

I don't like it. Live Action TV series, I say no.

I know there's a thread on this back in March,April or May. Too lazy to look.

I can't remember what my reponse was either, I suck. :(

Let's do it and I'll play a black MJ,so all the fanboys can have a freakin fit :marv:

Spider-Man the live action series is the next logical step after the movie franchise is over

I know a lot of people may disagree but if you had the rights to one of the biggest money making comic books and you didn't care about the character... you'd milk it for what it's worth too.

we might not like it... but I garauntee we'd watch at least one episode.. in the meantime, Sony stands to make money if they decide to make it a 'smallville' type show, not an origin story (I know that's what you were thinking) but rather a teen drama.. where the story is more about Peter dealing with women and family than actual super villains. The pilot alone and its ratings would be enough to warrant the venture. Even if it didn't get off the ground it would be a good move on Sony's part.

I could definitely see Sony going the live action route... through spike TV no less lol

but it would also be the point where spidey has been done to death...

I'd rather see a fourth movie (and I hope there is going to be one) rather than a live action tv series.

I rather see this be turned into a live action show or a cartoon series. But I'm leaning more towards a live action show. Waiting too long for the movies to come out are a pain. There are so many stories to tell. If they have the budget, which I know they can get, it could work. How about Joss Whedon or Sam Raimi for Executive producers/directors.

me too   :spidey:

No stupid live action tv series...it would suck big time. I don't want a Days of Spider-Man's Life or As Spidey's World Turns.

This is such a ridiculous thread. The latest Spider-Man animated series is awful. The Spider-Man animated series that ran from 1994-1997 is by far the best version of any animated Spider-Man series. I believe I watched every single episode when it use to air on Fox every Saturday morning when I was younger. I love the the 90s Spider-Man animated series!

Who the hell would pick a live action tv series over a movie???

someone who wants SM3 to be the end of the best comic book movie trilogy of all time, rather than continuing on with sequel after sequel. seriously. it seems as if SM3 is tying up the loose ends. so i say...let this series stand on it's one. no more sequels.

i personally would rather have a cartoon series keep the franchise alive, and then, 10-15 years later, restart the movies with a new vision, and the craze can begin all over again.

How is introducing a new love interest and a barrage of new villians and characters that could possibly become villians tying up loose ends? Secondly, let us have a 4th movie and judge from their. You don't know if it is going to be worse that the previous 3. Heck, we don't even know if 3 will be the best of the franchise...IMO it will be though. All the recent cartoons have been horrible because they are trying to revamp the old cartoon and IMO it sucks. Also, the maker of this thread wanted a LIVE ACTION series. Live action series compared to a blockbuster movie with mindblowing CGI is no comparison.

theres only one live action good one. well two. three. Lois and Clark, Smallville, and the original SPider-man series with real people, that mysterio was kick ass!

Hell no. It works for "Blade" but all other Marvel heroes should only be seen in cartoon form only or in the movies.

It probably would work for Punisher.

gwen, the new love interest, is ultimately denied when peter comes back to his senses at the end. harry bites it, as does brock. chances are sandman won't be around after number 3. it appears that MJ and peter will become engaged/tie the knot in the end of SM3. so that seems to be tied up.

i mean, there aren't many ways for them to go after this film. it seems to be a fitting end for the trilogy. and it will definitely be the most mind-blowing film yet, so why not end the series on a high note? if they continue, it would be some kind of new storyline with a new cast/director, and frankly, if they do that, i'd rather it be a different series.

that's why they should take time off after SM3, keep the franchise alive somehow, and years later, restart it with a bang.

Not for a tv series, rather have anther sequel, but I concur that there should be a break after this movie wraps up. Give the people working on the film a breather then go to work on the next film.
