this is what happens when a problem is ignored and not handled immediately. The fact that illegals felt the need to protest just blows my mind. What I saw yesterday was the tip of the iceberg in what is gonna be a very messy Presidential Election. They were registering people to vote. Anyone think that they were checking to make sure people were legal...me neither.

does anyone have trouble understanding that many of the protesters where legal immigrants and US citizens?

How can they require these people from another country to be able to speak english properly when there are Americans who cannot speak english properly? Also... make them pass a U.S. history test? Ha. Unless it is ridiculously easy... give that test to an average American and have them take it. The results would be pretty bad. They need to make it easier for immigrants from Mexico to come here legally. It is quite hard the way it is... this is why you see illegal immigrants.

So why aren't they protesting faster LEGAL immigration?
What's wrong with making them pass a history test? They can prove themselves smarter than most americans...unless....you're suggesting that because they're Mexicans they CAN'T learn US history.

I never said that they can't learn it... but it should be a choice. A lot of these people come here to work and make a living. Trying to better their lives. Is it really a HUGE deal for them to take time out of raising/supporting a family to learn U.S. history when an average American knows little to nothing about it? Most immigrants aren't rich and have the time to sit around taking U.S. history classes.
