Hello.

For a couple of weeks, I have had very little money. Right now, I have no money. I won't have money for a couple of days. I'll spare you the details on how I got into this situation.

For over a week, essentially all I've had to eat is the following, each day.

A banana.
1, perhaps 2, bowls of vegetable soup I make from scratch.

The soup is made from onion, carrots, celery, parsnip, dried broth mix, 1 vegetable stock cube, sometimes 1 chicken stock cube too, water.

The past few days, my stomach hurts. Just a pain I can't ignore, doesn't really feel like a hunger pain exactly but it does tend to come along between meals. It doesn't feel good. When it comes I feel absolutely wretched.

I wanted to get opinions.

Obviously what I've been eating isn't very varied. But I figured eating lots of vegetables would be healthy. Maybe my stomach is used to a more varied diet and is rebelling. Maybe my stomach is used to 3 square meals a day. Maybe I'm starving myself without realising it. Maybe I'm eating TOO much vegetable soup.

But its the cheapest thing I can make, and my current pot will see me through until I have money in a couple of days.

It might have to do with stress. It could be several other things but I've seen stress listed and knowing your in a tough spot probably contributes to that.

My other guess is that your not eating enough. Sometime I'll get pains in my stomach at work because all I had during the day was a light snack. My stomach isn't growling when this happens either.

You're basically eating just one food group: fruits and vegetables. Nothing to settle your stomach, like a protein or even a basic carbohydrate like a potato. If you keep eating like this you'll have constant diarrhea for a while.

I am sorry to hear you are having financial problems, but if you can even get some plain crackers somehow, it might help.

I think a combination of stress and a lack of protein, yes.

But good news!

I now have money.

Bananas have slightly more carbs than potatoes. But you're right about his diet just being boring.

I added chicken to the soup.

I'm going to be big and strong just like you!

When I was recovering from the stomach flu, I couldn't have any raw vegetables. It was just too tough to digest comfortably. Actually for a while, the only thing I COULD eat at a restaurant without cramping was sushi. :funny:

Even now, when my bf takes me to a raw vegan restaurant, I get stomach cramps after. :oldrazz: At this point I'm like, "It's good, but I can't have anymore."

Bread will actually help. It adds bulk and fiber and isn't raw. Can you afford bread to go with the soup?
