I have this "friend" who wants to get into comic books. This "friend" never really read them when he was young and now he regrets it. The reason I didn't post this in the DC or Marvel comics forum is because my "friend" wants to start with any of them. My "friend" is very fond Marvel though.

P.S. - I am totally not my "friend", he's a different person. :cwink:

Well, while as an artistic medium, there is a lot that is unique to comics, the types of stories and styles of comics you'll find are as varried as any other medium. So, it kind of depends on what genres your "friend" has an affinity towards. Even if "he" wants to start with something more mainstream, there are quite a few options. Basically, I'm asking: what is your "friend" into? It'll give us all something to work with.

Is your "friend" a she male?

If so, what is he/she into? Sci Fi? Westerns? Superheroes? Fantasy? These are the things we need to know in order to steer him/her in the right direction.

Sorry about that. My "friend" likes Sci Fi and Fantasy. "He" is also into Middle Earth types of things. As far as the popular stuff goes "he" wouldn't mind some suggestions for Spider-Man, Iron Man, or The Incredible Hulk.

If your "friend" likes Spider-Man, then there's no better time than right now to jump on board with the Amazing Spider-Man.

If he really likes Spidey... I mean, if his "friend" really likes Spidey, he should read Invincible.

Catch the first hardcover. It's insanely addictive.

Man, I was looking through that recommendations thread and remembering all the awesome stuff in there. Been forever since I seen Bloodhound. DC really should do something with him. He might have been good for that Hal Jordan lead JLA they got coming up.

I agree... been buying that book monthly since issue #1...

Reads like an old school Spider-Man comic with a 21st century grit... :word:

:yay:
