I'm all for it. There are so many stories they could base it on. Ideally, it'd be a nice blend of The Killing Joke, Mad Love, and Azzarello's Joker.

Batman could have a small supporting role, he's got to be involved in some capacity.

Eh. Could be good, but I don't think it's a movie we need to see.

No thank you. I can think of many characters I'd rather see films for, including ones the Joker could have a big role in. Joker's not a character though I want to see as the central character in a film.

I'm going to say no also. Could be cool but there are other DCCU movies I want to see first.

There are a number of Batman characters that could carry their own film, including Joker. Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Catwoman, all of them could carry their own movies

I can't say Joker is one of them. As far as Gotham characters go, I'd rather see Batwoman, Batgirl, Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Catwoman, Red Robin, Harley Quinn, Gotham City Sirens, etc... Joker I prefer as an antagonist or supporting character, he's not a main character to me.

I fail to see how Harley could carry her own film but Joker couldn't. Basing the movie off Azzarellos Joker would add a lot to the superhero movie landscape. The protagonist being such a despicable character isn't something that has been done in this genre

Sure.

But a Batman movie with Joker in it sounds good to me too.

You're not going to get A Clockwork Orange out of a PG-13 tentpole.

Joker only works properly as a foil to Batman. I am even skeptical of how he's going to work in the Suicide Squad movie without Batman.

Of course not, but that is still an example of having a downright heinous character as the protagonist and making a complete feature film centered around him/her. There's already been a Hannibal Lecter movie where he was the hero and Walter White serves as a shining achievement in turning a sympathetic character into the villain. And Maleficent, which I haven't seen, was apparently a good movie. I think a Joker movie could work, but you'd have to have a pretty solid scribe scribing it.

I'm kinda down for famous villain movies now that I think about it. I'd totally watch movies based around Darth Vader and the Wicked Witch.

Talking about movies that ruin villains and turn them into sympathetic characters, Maleficent is a prime example. It was awful.

I don't want a Joker movie same as I don't want a Sinister 6 movie, especially if they are going to turn the villains into sympathy characters when they aren't ones to begin with.

Its not that they get turned into sympathetic characters so much as the audience doesn't like to think that there are horrible people that weren't born evil.

Yes, but it should be seen through someone else's eyes like in Azzarello's Joker. I do not think it would be a good idea to show his inner thoughts or attempt to get us to understand him or even sympathise with him. A large part of what makes the Joker who he is, is the mystery and how we struggle futilely to fathom his thinking and what drives him.

The Joker's my favorite character ever but no. I've read Azzarello's Joker and you could replace Joker with Penguin or Two-Face. It didn't feel like the Joker until the ending. The Joker is a character who is consciously a one dimensional character. I don't know how you can make a movie about that.

No.

And Maleficent was aweesomesauce with a cherry on top. Who cares if it wasn't the exact same thing as the animated film? Obviously not the audience that made it a hit.
