The Amazing Spider-Man A live-action Spider-Man TV series

Oh, and I forgot about cameras/lenses:

Arriflex 235 (for those instances where you need a super small camera even if it isn't a sync-sound one), Arriflex 435 (high-speed/slow-motion), and Panavision Panaflex Millennium XL2 (everything else basically) if I'm doing film equipped with Panavision Primo primes, the Panavision Compact Zoom (handheld or Steadicam work), Angenieux Optimo zooms, and Canon, Century, or Nikon telephoto lenses if my DP and I needed to see far.

One thing with a live action TV series, what if the actors wanted to leave?

In a movie series the time between is different, like the change of Rachel's actor in TDK. Doctor Who for example makes it easy to change their lead.

With Spidey, if your Parker wants to leave - what would you do? Recast? Start again? Use a different Spidey?

Cuz say it's after a few seasons, your Pete would have found his voice, be played in a certain way... If the actor changes that could have a negative effect potentially.

I don't think that's something you have to worry about. There is a reason why you get an unknown actor and make him sign a contract. You can say the same about ANY TV show.

It doesn't have to be like Smallville and run for 10 seasons you know.

Finished having a go at writing a pilot, bit rough around the edges but if anyone would like to read it... :D

A Spider-Man TV would be awesome and unlike Smallville, Spider-Man's supporting cast is actually interesting.

It's about 55 pages, I'll see what I can work out. I might be able to have it in PDF format online then post a link.

Live Spidey would be amazing (excuse the pun)

Terrific rogues gallery;
Doc Ock
Lizard
Vulture
Venom
Mysterio
Electro
Sandman

Terrific Supporting cast
Uncle Ben (think imaginary Dexter's dad)
May
MJ
Gwen
Harry
Betty
JJ
Robbie
Flash

Two action sequences a episode, the rest of the time built up with character development.

Downside is over satuation of Spidey may harm the Spidey movies.

Tip: Cast Parker Paker in his late teens that way if the show has a long run he will still be relatively young.

Agreed! It's got so much potential, so many things it can use.

Since a few years I have thought about the idea if a TV show about Peter Parker would work - which leads to the Spider-Bite in the Series Finale. ;)

I think a Spider-Man TV show would be a great thing to see. I suspect the only thing standing in the way is the cost of the special effects.

That could work, but for how long? Its not like Superman who had his powers growing up.

How long would that really hold them back though? In another 10 years or so, I'm sure they could afford to make the series, plus technology would have advanced greatly by then.

Also, they could use villains that don't require much CGI and FX. Kingpin, Silvermane, Hammerhead, Chamelion, Kraven, Black Cat, Rocket Racer, and then the occasional Scorpion, Shocker, Mysterio, etc.

Exactly you go with the more 'human' villians. Also if you go more for a 'mob' angle you can have Kingpin (and let's be clear here the right for Kingpin is Sony/Marvel not Fox, Fox asked for permisson to use Kingpin), Silverman, hammerhead. So instead of Super powered villians you have human thugs (like the 70's tv series).

The problem is who would make the series?
Sony? Nope, too much money.
Marvel? Nope I think they are focused on developing Shield/Avengers characters.
3rd party? Nope, Marvel/Sony would want too big a cut.

I think a TV show of spidey would work, but in the format of a HBO show. If you do 10 focused episodes a season, you could double the budget per episode. So the show would look so much better for it. I can only imagine that's one of the reasons something like Game Of Thrones looks so good, because it has only 10 eps per season. Maybe i'm talking out my ass though lol.

And as for villains, I think that the very first episode would end with Peter apprehending Uncle Ben's killer and looking at the guy's ID, finding out his name is Dennis Carradine. The next episode, after Spider-Man gets framed for theft at the wrestling ring he's been wrestling at, he learns that somebody paid Carradine's bail (Big Man or Kingpin?), then starts poking around online and learns about the organized crime in New York, which Spidey starts taking out. Over a few episodes, he starts to grasp the whole Power=Responsibility thing, that story arc coming to a climax when he pulls somebody's (i.e., the crane guy from TASM) son out of a burning building.
Meanwhile, Big Man/Kingpin (whichever) puts out a reward for Spider-Man's corpse. Norman Osborn takes him up on that and turns some guy into the Scorpion, the technology for the tail coming from Otto Octavius' prosthetic limb design (come on, you've noticed the similarities!). After getting his ass handed to him by the Scorpion (He spends the next day suffering from a concussion), Peter uses some of his (already groundbreaking) work with polymer cables (which he 's been working on since at least the beginning of the series) to invent a sort of artificial spider silk, by which I mean webbing, and dual wrist-mounted shooters for it.
After Spider-Man uses his new web-shooters to defeat Scorpion, Octavius confronts Osborn about his using the prosthetic design for evil and such, and is promptly fired. Osborn, meanwhile, is injecting himself with an experimental strength-enhancing serum. My version of the Green Goblin would be (mostly) sane, by the way. He's probably look something like this:

Anyway. Those are my ideas for how the series (notably the super villain thing) would get started. It's a continuation of my ideas of how Peter gets his powers, which, for newcomers, are discussed in an earlier post. What do you think?

I like Scorpion as a villain, by the way, because he's exactly that. The Scorpion to Peter Parker's Spider. The first logical thing you would do when trying to make a super villain to destroy Spider-Man is look to the food chain, right?

I saw I was brought up on the first page lol. Was going to weigh in anyways but that was cool.

I am within studios. Actually really connected now. 24 years old. The funny and interesting thing is, when I was 14-15 is when I started this whole notion and it was here on the hype. So with that it was kind of like a blast from the past moment of you reminding me of what I was like when I was young. Throughout high school, I just continued writing and even wrote a virtual series for the main SUPERNATURAL fan site for four years (22 episodes per season, 40-50 pages each, writers under my 'employ') BEST learning experience I could have ever asked for. Then I went to college, it was in Long Island - and I just continued writing. Took some summer classes in USC where I learned some more. Then landed an internship at a big film company where I and the VP finished each other's sentences and the child of one of the five main studio's presidents became a mentor. Keep in mind I grew up in the suburbs. Knew - no one. Now I'm 24, have my foot in the door, and have these guys interested. They're like family to me.

The above might be long. But, just wanted to show that from humble beginnings anything is possible. If you work hard enough, long enough, live and breathe this thing, something's gonna happen. And since I got here thanks to help from mentors who didn't have to give me the time of day, I'm a pay-it-forward kind of philosophy guy so feel free to PM me.

My sights are actually still on this, despite having not done much with it since all those years ago, but it's still not time yet. Other heroes, and cartoon properties, are on the table currently. And I might enter with a fantasy charged script.

As previously stated, your post was like a blast from the past to me, so feel free and open to PM me at any time. I'm happy to help with anything for anyone.

It wouldn't be too unusual for Marvel to make more than one series at a time.

Paramount at one point was working on two Star Trek series simultaneously (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Star Trek Voyager) while working on multiple films (around 1993-1998). So it could happen.

I could see this work.
