Speaking as... Well as a poster...t:
Well sorry you find it "spammy" CC, but it's in good fun, there's never an intent to post NSFW material of any import (I try my best to make sure there's no super salty language or imagery ), often there's a theme if you can see the connections between the music and the images, it often IS connected to the conversations, such as there are in the wee hours of the morning (there's a method to my madness 90% of the time) and I like to share music.
As always, and I ask this a lot, I don't know what you or other's seem to want from this Lounge sometimes? I'm sorry I don't mirror the conversations you and others had on the Hype circa 2003 but I'm not an oversharing 16 year old raised in the Internet forum culture which I can assume is what was the majority of the Hype posters from that time.
I've contributed to a huge number of the various sub forums around here, being someone that used to read Marvel and DC comics voraciously. So conversation is something I have done to varying degrees in my three years on the Hype CC. HERE however I like that instead of the usual rhetorical knife fights/pissing contests this place can just be relaxed and fun with some nerdy jokesters who are actually getting along instead of nursing bitter recriminations and resents all because they disagree about fictional occurrences in varying mass media franchises.
And it's not like I haven't contributed to meaningful stuff either. KevG's dog having to be put down the other day? My message? From the heart, which surprises even me since I am (rightly) skeptical of the connections one can really make online given the inherent limitations of this form of communication. But what I typed out to Kev came from the heart because Kev is one of my favorite posters here. He's a fun presence that above all has a great sense of humor and fun and skewed view of things, while also having a sense of real empathy and humanity, or at least that's the impression I get. So my sympathy and advice to him about the circumstances with his dog was as real as could be.
Frankly given the atmosphere this past year I've taken to coming to this Lounge more and more because "the natives are restless" and have been for some time but 2016 was the watershed year where I just stopped caring as much as I used to about this place and put my fanboy energies into something else, something I find more rewarding and fun, since the debates and personalities of the Hype threads hold a lot less interest than they used to for me. But I still came to the Lounge to have fun and interact with some good people, guys and gals that have taken the time out because of the relationships forged here, who helped me with my podcast. Vic, Roose, dude, Reek... They were incredibly helpful in my preparing for my GAME OF THRONES show, as well as my STAR WARS show. So, again, I think not only do I contribute but I have benefited as well from other posters. If that's not an ideal model way for an online community to act, then I don't know what is.
In any case... All that in exchange for posting some music and images doesn't seem like a bad deal but perhaps I should follow my instincts and leave the to the usual "argues for the sake of arguing" types that make up the vast majority of it's members since I've never fit into this group all that well to begin with. I mean... If I'm annoying YOU CC, one of the most chill mods here, then I can only imagine what others really think.
you do not annoy me Krypton. let me get that out there. you are one of my favorite posters on the site these days and i usually read everything you post. i guess it's just personal preference that i skim past the music posts.
you're right about it not being a 2003 lounge here, but the reasons you said you come to the lounge, those are all the things i used to love about the lounge. the free flowing convo, good vibes, casual topic discussions, life advice, and just checking in on each other from time to time.
like you, i get burnt out by the fandom specific areas sometimes. most of the times. everyone has an opinion, and theirs is the right one. there is was too much insulting and ego rants to where it really takes the fun out of some of those things. i dont mind a lil jibbing but some people can't handle it and it goes off the deep end. you should see some of the stuff that gets reported. it's equal to elementary school playground nitpicking.
if posting the videos makes you happy, then by all means keep it up. i've been using this site a lot longer than my screen name says, but i can find my comic info anywhere. the people are what keep me coming back to the site and i know a lot of people don't like me here, and that's totally okay. (remember that petition? lol) but this has, and probably always will be my internet home lol /sappy
