A question about the hype

I read generally this forum, the Imdb forum and various online magazines like Latino Review and IESB.

So, what's happening? Why the people hate this movie so much?

This forum: there are people and people who, also hadn't seen the movie yet, critically brutally the movie. Why?

IMDB: big laugh here. There are a lot of people who open day by day topic with the same name "Tom Jane is Punisher". And start to offense every person who had hope in this new movie and destroy the hype. Why?

Latino Review: in past has wrote numerous not true "rumors" and these rumors had destroied some positive hype in some person. The Pg-13 rumor - stupid, stupid, stupid rumor - is still on the web. People come on the forums and still wrote topics like this "This movie will be a flop because it's a pg-13". And when people said to they "This is and old rumor, this movie it's gonna be R", they said "Really? And the article on the pg-13?". LR has created damage on this movie, there's no way.

IESB: another big laugh here. I don't know why IESB hate much this movie, maybe others majors have paied they with big money. It's the only motivation i found. IESB - from the beginning - has wrote absurd article only with the mission of destroy the hype of this movie. On an absurd article we can read "Two insiders has said that this movie will be bad and the Punisher's 1989 version it's much more good". Eh? Oh God...But when they found these stupid quote? But the people believe it and the hype goes down. And another...The Hype go up slow very slow thanks to new pics and tv spots and after this new postive hype, IESB wrote this: "Ray Stevenson present the new tv spot. But this movie looks awful, horrible". Again? I think "the man" who wrote these things about PWZ is a Tom Jane's parent.

So. We have now three movies. 1989's Punisher is son of his era: Mike Baron and it's ok.
2004's Punisher is good. Tom jane is a great Punisher and the story it's good. It's a good movie based on the Marvel Knights run.

Now we have a new movie based on the Marvel Max run, with Stevenson looks like the Punisher and a great villain and story, action, violence. Why can we'll do a chance to it? Why most of the people had yet rated this movie "horrible"?
Why the much negative hype?

Tom Jane is good and looks like MK run. But if you are a true Punisher fan you'll see this movie - Jane or not Jane. And if Stevenson is - finally - much more good than Jane? We don't know, so don't judge a movie by trailers and spot tv. We'll see the movie on December 5 and after we can judge.

Sorry for this but i'm really sad about this hype. (And sorry for the not perfect english, i'm italian).

Even though there are some negative posts on imdb there actual seems to be alot of people support the movie.

I'm actually very excited to see this. From what I've seen and heard, it seems promising, and faithful to the source. Granted, I'm judging none of this on the marketing, which I think is horrible. I don't really think the trailers and spots are giving us an accurate depiction of the movie. To me, it just looks like they took a few of the action scenes and cut them together with some nu-metal to appease the 'hardcore' demographic.

I'm basing most of my optimism on the interviews with the cast and crew, who are giving me the impression that we will get some great character moments with Frank in the picture, along with the action.

I really want this to be good but I just cant stand how the TV spots look. The only complaint I have about the movie is I hate him firing the 2 guns in a circle as he dangles from a chandelier. It just irritates me so much

Some sites push their opinion a bit too much, and the ones you mentioned are pretty much known for shoddy reporting and quack reviews.

As far as people drive by bashing the movie here, if it makes you feel better I've seen them spreading their pessimism on many hero forums here. It's just the nature of the hype.

Spot on. And Italians are some of my favourite people.

I get that many fans of the 04 film were let down when Tom Jane left and the film morphed from sequel to reboot. It isn't necessary to take anything away from Tom Jane's fine performance when saying that the 04 movie wasn't strong overall, and I do hope fans give the new film the same chance they gave the 04 effort.

I have no substantial negative or positive feelings regarding the movie, but I do give a slight eye-roll everytime it comes up. It's just a little silly at how many attempts there have been at a Punisher movie, and if this one isn't as big as Marvel hopes, I fear another may be looming in the future.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but from the scenes I've read and previews I've seen this movie looks like Shoot'em Up 2. That's why I believe it will turn out bad.
