A second viewing

Second viewing is definitely better than the first. So many nerves going into it after things like the RT ratings and what not. But after the dust settles, it's so much better. I, too, have my final review at a 9/10. I'll see it once more (3rd time), but it's going to be tough to wait for the Blu Ray release. I'm anticipating that being around November, but I'd love it to arrive sooner.

I definitely should watch it again, because as I left the theatre, my feelings were of moderate satisfaction, but as this week has gone by, I've gotten more and more cold towards it. The flaws that it had were pretty big flaws. Once expectations are out of the way, I expect the film as a whole to flow much more smoothly.

I would say I liked it best the first time because my heart was pounding the whole time and I didn't know what to expect. However, I felt a little frustrated that certain subtle moments and transitions were missing; it seemed a bit choppy to me. While the second viewing was slower since I knew what was going to happen, my rating of the film went up overall because I understood certain things better, and it didn't feel choppy. I must have mentally filled in the blanks by that point.

My first viewing was in an IMAX theater in 3D and the second was in an XD theater in 3D. I plan to watch it in 2D in the next few days and I'm really looking forward to it. The only reason I watched it in 3D was for the big screen and crisp sound system.

Hated my first viewing, really enjoyed my second viewing.
I suspect many critics will only see this movie once, hence the low RT score. If I were reviewing MoS on only one sitting I would have trashed this movie.

I'll be seeing it again this Thursday and Saturday so that'll all equal 5 viewings so far. It gets better and better. As for the people that didn't like it the first time, they usually grow into liking it on subsequent viewings.

Loved it the first time. Took, nay had to drag my friends to see it, as one hates Superman, one only likes comic book movies, but dislikes Superman, and the other only wanted to cause I liked it.


All of us greatly enjoyed it. Fun fact : My friend who despises Superman hated the first 15 min of each DC movie he's seen.

How does one hate the prologue of the The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises???

Well, he likes the Prologues, but up until about 15 minutes after that he dislikes it. He used to like GL, but hates it now (I'm mixed, but I feel i'm gonna dislike it on another viewing lol.) He said MOS's opening was too weird, but after that it was gravy.

LOL. I mean...I never loved it. It was always a total 6/10 for me, but if I get that feeling, I bet I will.

I will say, from what I remember, Reynolds was pretty good in it, the movie was just not up to par. Still better than Jonah Hex though.

I was pretty underwhelmed. I wanted to love it, but it just didn't feel like a Superman movie to me at all.

I won't be seeing it again in the theatre, but I hope it does well enough to get a sequel and a Justice League movie at least.

It seems like that is just what WB does with DC live action properties.

I don't get it, because DC has great animated movies, they just can't figure out live action for some reason.

I think my hatred of MoS on my first viewing stems from the final fight, which goes on way too long and is too bombastic and erases all the good dramatic moments I saw earlier in the movie from my mind and that is what I left the cinema with. On second viewing I am reminded of the great first 2 acts and I was braced for the final fight. I was dreading watching MoS again but I'm glad I did.

I should have given Green Lantern the same courtesy (seeing it twice) but I clearly remembered only enjoying the training montage (which is at most 3 minutes) so didn't bother watching again, even on Blu ray.

At least Jonah Hex had Josh Brolin, Michael Fassbender, John Malkovich, and to some extent, Michael Shannon.

I think a second viewing would make me like it more, yes. My experience of seeing this film for the first time left me somewhat overwhelmed and a little confused. Upon hours and days of reflection, I was able to pick out so many great moments and things I loved. I'm going this Friday to see it for a second time with some non-Superman fan friends of mine who have heard great things about this movie and I'm curious to see what they make of it. I can't wait!

This! I admit that I was very let down after my first viewing as I thought the movie was going to really strike me at my core, like the 2nd trailer did, but as the days went by and I adjusted to the layout of the film, I kept thinking about how much I liked about the movie.

I tried to catch a show after I got off today, but I had an old friend in town and she wanted to catch up. I'll definitely catch it tomorrow. I can't wait.

After my first viewing, I rated the movie as 8/10, but a day after that i thought that the rating should have been at 7.5/10.

So, I decided to watch the movie once again, after my second viewing, i found that the movie has enough emotional moments and heart, also story flow looked better.

So my initial rating at 8/10 is correct.

Agree. I went from rating MOS a 7 my first viewing to a 9-1/2 my second viewing. Amazing movie if your watching it for what it is and not nit-pick as I did my first viewing. I can't wait to see it again!

It was also helpful to know previously they ere going to make some weird decisions, that the impact of Superman in the world was not going to be covered, that Lois was going to know the secret identity, that many people in Smallville knew about Clark's powers, that Pa Kent was so convinced his son shouldn't help people that he would commit suicide.

I almost feel that if this were called a different name and it actually was a different character I could have valued this movie differently. This movie had many things done great but went to far changing the traditional story.
