Age of Ultron Aaron Johnson is Quicksilver

THey definitely have a lot to live up to. Like Keyzer says, they need to differentiate them enough so there is less comparisons.

But when it comes to the actual display of power, Joss really needs to put his imagination into over drive. Speedsters are really hard to pull off, even in the comics.

QS IN DoFP WAS FROM THE 70'S..... avengers aOu IS CURRENT.... #nuffsaid

What does that have to do with how they are characterised and their display of powers?

I am curious to see how Whedon's depiction of super speed compares and contrasts to Singer's.

The Endless now has my favorite avatar! Hallleluljahhhhhhhh! :)

but he could easily lead Hulk into taking Thor out. he is kind of mindless and violent; not really caring what he hits when he lashes out. Quicksilver could, concievably, trick Hulk into taking out the other Avengers. and that's all that's required. Hulk doesn't have a gameplan of his own or a real motive to stop Hydra or the Twins. he's just wander off.

While that is a valid card to play. I would prefer it not be done in every Avengers film.

I think the comparisons will arise form how they depict Quicksilvers powers in AOU?

Even though the super-slo mo has been done before they still somehow found a way to make it pop and seem fresh in the film.

I wonder if Joss and his crew have seen the film and are going to either try to one up that or find a different route to avoid a comparison?

I dont think Joss is the type of filmmaker who would include QS and not know exactly how he wants him to be visually. Theres no point in adding him if its not gonna be simply awesome from the start. Im more interested in him as a character. If thats cool, the neat speed fx is just a bonus.

If you watch The Avengers, the action is almost secondary, its the character interaction, humor and drama going on that makes it so cool. Without that meat n potatoes, theres not much else for movies like these. It would be a big one note greenscreen/CGI-o-rama.

I've been hearing so much about this QS scene in DoFP. I won't be able to see it for a while though.

Hes a scene stealer TJBryum, Bryan did a great job with him.

I think Whedon has an advantage in that DOFP came out while he's still shooting AoU, and since he's so social-network savvy he's not going to be missing out on all the hype surrounding QS in DOFP. With the budget that Disney has given him (which I'm sure will be increased from the first Avengers movie), Whedon is only limited by his imagination regarding QS. He just need to check the comic books and he will be able to find inspirations that could be even better than Evans' QS scenes. Whedon can also check out Flash's comic books because Flash and QS's powers are very similar. I fully expect to be blown away by Johnson's QS in AoU, because I know Whedon won't let us down.

Now I hope that theres a QS scene in AOU that trumps the one in DOFP. Even if there isnt, Im sure Joss will make him a kickass character

You're all talking about how visually cool Quicksilver was, yeah sure Joss can recreate that, but #1. It won't feel fresh #2. It won't be the same character.

People loved Quicksilver in DOFP not only because of his powers and the visuals, but because of his character. He's lived a life in a slow motion world, he's bored, frustrated, and a guys who's just in it for a good time. It wasn't watching him run on the wall that made him so great it was him stopping to sample the soup, it was his wall of twinkies, it him popping up behind the guard with a grin and duck tape.

I'm not liking this idea of "Miracles", I like the idea of replacing Mutants with inhumans so much more. Judging by what we've seen of him so far, I think the quicksilver we're going to see is going to be dark and brooding which I don't want at all.

AOU QS def wont be a gimmick, itll be a fully developed character that plays a part in the story.

I think it's perfectly fine to show this Quicksilver a bit darker.

Like you say, DoFP Quicksilver stood out because of his personality more than his powers. The part where he pokes the guard in the face just for laughs genuinely made me chuckle.

So Joss has to do the same. Make him stand out with his personality. I think he'll be portrayed as angrier and more in pain. But also cocky, which is an inherent trait to the character.

He maybe can't fully control his powers. Him and his sister outcasts who look out for each other and are suspicious of people claiming to want to help them. But when the Avengers gain their trust we'll see him relish his powers and not be afraid of them.

I just want the QS thats true to the character in the comics but with Joss' personal style/humor added.

I'm sure there will be some humour. Especially from him interacting with Stark and maybe Hulk, who would get frustrated from not being able to smash him :)

I hope his character has humour, just not as much as Evan Peter's version. Though Elizabeth Olsen did say that Quicksilver was quite funny in an interview. I like Aaron a lot, so I'm really looking forward to seeing his take on the character.

ATJ is looking great.

He looks like Harry Potter on steroids, but better. He definitely looks better with the close cropped hair cut than the shag.

Whedons QS will probably be more of a dick humor wise. Like more harsh and insulting as opposed to playful.

I wonder what Joss thinks of QS in DOFP.

Knowing Joss I think he would like him.

Like someone else mentioned it wasn't just the visuals but the mix of them with humor as well. Which is something Joss is known for.

Also QS in DOFP did play a pretty pivotal role in the film, he wasn't just a cameo like some claim. I'd say his role was arguably more substantial than any of the original trilogy characters aside from wolverine and maybe old prof. x.

I wonder what Joss thinks of QS in DOFP.

This is what I found re: Whedon's reaction to DOFP's QS:

At the Saturn awards this week, Crave Online caught up with Joss Whedon on the red carpet and asked him about the confusion behind the “brother-sister act” being of interest to both his own film for Marvel Studios and for Bryan Singer in the next X-Men team up for Twentieth Century Fox.

“It’s a huge part of the movie. I’m really excited about it and I don’t know what they’re doing – I’m determinedly not knowing… They’ll do their thing, I have to do mine.”

just saw dofp. while I like the QS scene he was more like his nephew, Speed, than QS himself. I hope Whedon gets him right.
