That's exciting. Now bring me King Triton casting news.

Don't know why they're using a picture of Triton in that, since he wasn't Ursula's father, and Poseidon was never in the movie.

Huh?

That picture IS of Poseidon, AKA Neptune, since the statue has legs.

Triton wasn't really a king in Greek myth, but was Poseidon's son who was always represented as a half man, half fish. AKA a merman.

They both carried tridents though.

Now, the fact that Poseidon is Triton's dad in myth is interesting. I wonder if they'll even approach that in this show, since that would make Ursula Triton's sister and Ariel's aunt, which was never the case in the movies and the TV show, IIRC.

Also, the uhm..."pigmentation discrepancy" between Ariel and Ursula will have to be explained too. Although if Percy Jackson's take on Greek myth can be used as an example, the Greek/Roman gods didn't care what ethnicity they sired or mothered a child from. And the gods can appear any way they want to, as well.

They edited the picture. When the article was first posted, the statue of Poseidon wasn't there, and it was a pic of Triton from The Little Mermaid.

I can vouch for this comment.

Actually the original script had ursula as tritons sister... which is why it was adapted to the broadway musical

I think the most exciting part of them casting Poseidon is that it opens up the possibility of having Zeus, Hercules and Hades show up in the series.

I just found out that the canonical Little Mermaid cartoon series established Triton as Poseidon's son (something I had not been aware of), and as far as Ursula is concerned, she was originally Triton's sister in the early drafts of the film script, and became his sister once again in the stage version of the story.

However, given the difference in ethnicity between OUaT's Ariel and Ursula, it does not appear as if the familial connection between the characters is being utilized.

Eh i wouldnt say that... skin color and race matters not amongst gods. Wouldnt be the first time children of gods in media had different races and were still siblings

Ah. That explains it then.

Good thing they fixed it.

These are things that I did not know. All of it is good though, as far as how they might portray the relationships in OUAT.

Yep.

They don't even have to be the same species. For example, one of Triton's half-brothers in mythology is Pegasus, the winged horse.

Lemme guess....Mal was in love with Stef, Stef marries someone else, Mal puts a curse on his bride, they fight, she wake up, they have Aurora, Mal shows up, curses her and BAM! Regina casts her curse.

Wow, most of that Q&A was "can't say" and "maybe" LOL

Once Upon a Time Casts Mad Man Patrick Fischler in Key Recurring Role
By Vlada Gelman

Once Upon a Time is enlisting an ad man for its next arc.

Patrick Fischler (Mad Men) will recur on Season 4 of the ABC drama as a peddler, TVLine has learned.

Fischler’s character comes across as well-intentioned but is actually a quick-witted, arrogant man with reckless impulses. He will appear in both fairytale land and Storybrooke.

Fischler will also recur on Season 2 of HBO’s Silicon Valley as Professor Bannercheck, a very serious academic glowing with self-satisfaction who has relocated himself and family to help the guys at Hooli.

Once Upon a Time resumes Season 4 with Episode 13 on Sunday, March 1, at 8/7c.
Another LOST castmember.

Any guesses who he could be playing?

Patrick Fischler gets on my nerves. He's always recognizable in stuff though. He's just one of those guys.
