Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Movie in the Works

I read the book, enjoyed it. I remember when the trailer played in a packed theater and everybody kinda chuckled when the title popped up, but you could hear people saying "we gotta see that."

Here's hoping SGS wrote a better script for this than Dark Shadows. It seems he is taking the material of his own book as seriously as he should have taken that even though the subject matter is more absurd. It's kind of an odd reversal. But I found the book pleasantly entertaining, so I will probably check this movie out sometime in the future.

New international poster. Looks about the same as the UK one though.

I like how this one looks like the novel's cover.

Some other pics I found that I don't think have been posted.

Oh wow his old Lincoln actually looks really good.

This is honestly one of my must see films this summer. I don't know how anyone could not out of sheer morbid curiosity not want to go see a movie where Abe Lincoln axes the **** out of vampires.

Timur tweeted this out. I'm assuming this is a shot of MEW in the film.

& Jim Lemley (film's producer) said that Timur's "ALMOST finished with ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER! http://t.co/wKEvepU6 "

Rufus at the Kapow! Comic Con.

He said a red-band trailer should be out in about a month.

& CBM asked him if he'd be in a sequel should it happen, & he said it was possible.

"They couldn't quite make their mind up during filming whether my character lived or died actually at the end. But to tell you the truth as people kept saying, 'I'm a vampire so it doesn't really matter.'"

"In terms of the sequel, I mean, from what I've seen it looks really exciting. Until I've seen the entire film, I couldn't make a pronouncement on that. But I loved doing it. Dominic Cooper is an old friend of mine and we really enjoyed working with each other. Ben I liked very much."

"It was great fun working in New Orleans. The only regret I had is that if I had known how hot it was going to be in New Orleans, when they tried the cape and the gloves on me, I might have had something to say about it! It's very difficult eating New Orleans food if you don't want to be the world's first tubby vampire of the film world, you know?"

"The experience of doing it was great fun. And if the movie is as fun to watch as it was to do, then I'd be up for a sequel possibly. But you know, I'll hold back on that for the moment."

So they are going for an R rating then. Cool.

Redband trailer description is out.

• I'm not entirely sure whether or not we've seen a red band trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (I can't say say I've had an awful lot of interest in the film so far) but the one we were shown at the Kapow! Comic Convention on Saturday really showed off just how brutal the film looks set to be. This is violent, action packed and bloody stuff, although thankfully nowhere near over the top as the blood splatter effects in the likes of Punisher: War Zone.

• The first scene revealed that Rufus Sewell's Adam (the leader of the vampires and main villain in the film) has his sights set on the White House. A young Abraham Lincoln listens on and attempts to take out one of his henchman. However, it appears that he has no idea that these guys are vampires as a bullet to the head has absolutely no effect.

• From here, a very tense and exciting sequence begins as Lincoln attempts to escape and is pursued by the taunting bloodsucker. This whole scene takes place on the docks, and as he attempts to take refuge in a shed of some sort (unsuccessfully as he's unable to lock the door), he fumbles with his gun, dropping his only bullet. However, he manages to regain his composure and shoots the vampire in the eye. Thinking he's won, he stumbles away, turning around to see that...you guessed it...he's gone! There was then a moment which literally resulted in everyone in the auditorium jumping out of their seats.

• The next scene was far less tense, and featured a scene between Abraham Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Mary Todd. He confesses to her exactly what it is he spends his nights doing - hunting down and killing vampires. Of course, she doesn't believe a word he's saying and he allows her to think he's joking.

• Their romantic picnic ends with the duo outside of Mary's house. She inventively uses Lincoln's top hat to stand on in order to be able to kiss him. As she moves in, he turns his head, and the date comes to a rather abrupt end. It's not that Lincoln isn't interested - he simply wants to protect her from the dangers he faces.

• We then saw a lot of new footage, including a fantastic scene of Lincoln attempting to navigate his way through a stampede of horse, some very creative uses of the 3D effects (a whip actually coming out of the screen towards the audience) and a glimpse at some of the ways Lincoln uses his axe - turns out it doubles up as a gun! The footage ended with a much older Lincoln wielding his axe. There appears to be a lot more to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter than meets the eye and that there will be a lot more to the story than the title suggests.

• And that was it! The above description is pretty much accurate to the best of my knowledge, although there may of course be one or two inaccuracies (it was a long weekend, and this was the first of many panels I attended). One thing I AM certain of though is that the film will be much better than any of us have so far imagined. The 3D is pretty good, the special effects look top notch, and Benjamin Walker appears to be a great choice for the role. I'm still not 100% convinced, but my interest in the film has increased tenfold. Definitely one to watch out for.

I don't know if i'm the only one but i read the book enjoyed it but have almost no interest that this films is coming out?

Just saw the red band trailer on the main page. This thing needs to shut up and take my money naow.

Loved the trailer, it was very brutal. Seems like they have a respect for Vampire lore.

I've been pretty down on this movie and I think overall its going to be a pretty bad movie but the action does look pretty cool for the most part. I was kinda hoping for a more down to earth type film where he just destroys everything in sight with the axe. Saying that though the axe actions look effin awesome and he does looks pretty great with a beard, unfortunately it doesn't look he has the beard for very long. Without beard he can be any schmuck but with the beard now that is Abe Lincoln killing vampires.

Now THAT is how you promote this film!

I was losing hope from the previous trailers. Way too generic. I'm seriously hoping some form of this trailer plays in theaters and that this is a turn in their marketing approach because it laid everything out in stone. This is the trailer that will capture people's interest in it.

The previous trailers make it look like a generic action film with a president, whereas the script I read was intensely clever, dark, twisted, and edge-of-your-seat type stuff which this trailer expertly presents.

The trailer is most likely going to be in front of Prometheus. Can't wait to see how people react to it.

I think people are starting to warm up in a sense to it. They're making sure to market the hell out of it, as I've seen commercials on Adult Swim, TNT, and SyFy all last night.

That trailer's cool but it didn't show a lot of his badass axe moves like the red band did.

wow i love the new green band one better than the red band

ben walker comes across as very powerful in voice and presence

the speech pumped me up

here is YT version
