I just love the DC Absolute Editions. And Batman gets a lot of Absolute attention. The third Batman Absolute is getting ready to come out (Long Halloween) but my favorite, Superman, has yet to get one (and no, "Kingdom Come" doesn't count...)

Are there any really good Superman stories that would make for a good Absolute edition? Because as much as I'd like an Absolute Superman, I can't think of any stories that would make for an Absolute edition. Superman For All Seasons is my favorite, but it was only four issues...that doesn't seem epic enough for an Absolute.

Then of course there's Birthright, For Tomorrow, etc. but the quality of those is open to debate amongst forums like these...or perhaps the Death and Return maybe?...I don't know.

Can we ever see an Absolute Superman of some kind? What story/stories should be included if it ever came to pass?

death/world without/ return of superman would probroly be the best choice for an absolute,Man of steel would be good to, MAYBE our worlds at war but other than that I can't really think of anything. For some reason an epic hero like Superman doesn't get to many epic stprylines

agreed. With everything you said. :)

I think the most likely Absolute Superman story is For Tomorrow. Despite the fact that many didn't like it, it still sold alot of books and it's drawn by Jim Lee who have a lot of fans.

Other than that I would say Death & Return of Superman, but that would probably be too big to put in one Absolute collection. Maybe For All Seasons could be collected since it's by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.

What about Brainiac returning with Warworld? Was that Our Worlds at War?

It's been so long I can't remember. I would have thought Kingdom Come would be a good Superman but that involves the other heroes as well but he was a central figure

I just bought and read the complete Our Worlds At War tpb and I definitely don't think it's worthy of the Absolute treatment. The story felt choppy and it was hard to tell what exactly was happening. It might've been the way it was reprinted, but it just didn't feel like a complete story.

I think though superman is probably the most recognised comic book hero in the world his storylines havent matched his popularity i think the prime reason is he has no real villains to test him they are all poorly written characters who seem to be stuck in the 50s characters like toyman are laughable Darkseid was supes only interesting villain for years but DC have made him into a joke superman is a prime example of what happens when you create a hero who is to powerful it becomes a nightmare to create villains who can match him.

I've still been thinkin' about it...I enjoyed the "Up, Up, and Away" story. I'd buy an Absolute edition of that...

*continues to ponder*
