Action Heros: Next Gen

My list: Believable and sympathetic action heroes

Statham
Rock
Jaa
Damon
Jackman (could be if he wanted)
Oded Furh?

Hmm... dunno about any others at the moment

What about Tony Jaa? Or is there a extra category for martial arts action stars?

Tony Jaa is raping every other action star before him and at present. The guy is in a league of his own.

Who the hell are these softies you guys are posting? A wrestler? A old keith sutherland?

good lawd.

Where's Arnold when you need him, or Norris, or bruce, or stallone....

the rock fights in fake matches where he coreographs his eye brow movements as much as his fake punches and kicks. He'll never be able to fight a predator one on one and win, and scorpion king was crap.

Bauer's a puss compared to rambo.

And deliveryman? What is he, ups? transporter or whatever... who cares about him and his lame fights. Wow, he fights a bunch of stunt guys in carefully coreographed action scenes in some bland action movies. Diesel's at least created a somewhat iconic character in Riddick.

In the age of CGI movies, old school action movies are really dead so this thread's done.

What's funny is, your post loses all credibility you think it has. I stopped watching wrestling the moment the rock left but I'll say this, people like Arnold may pump iron but tell me what's so tough about him?

He gets paid to be in movies where he's not really punching anyone, he has stunt doubles.

Tell me, what the difference between him and stars like the rock, who btw is one of the few action stars that can actually act? I'll tell you, alot of the stuff wrestlers do is more real in terms of the action that people like Arnold and Stallone have done.:o

Since when can the Rock act? He's can be funny, and seems like a cool guy in real life, but that doesn't make him a good actor.

And pro wrestling is more demanding physically, but is more unrealistic in concept than most outrageous movies and has terrible acting. Being good at pro wrestling doesn't make you any kind of action star, just good at stage fighting.

Arnold wasn't a very good actor, either. But he had charm and could make people laugh. The Rock is that way too, so IMO he has good potential as an action star.

Is a big action star now

Wow, Wes Snipes. What happened to him?!

Seriously, is he going to be in a new movie anytime soon?

*runs to IMDB*

What's with Karl Urban? Does he qualify as an action hero? I don't really know much about him other than that he was in Chronickles of Riddick, Lord of the Rings and Doom. In Doom, he and the Rock kicked some serious ass.

Eh...

Naturally, I love Mal, but he really isn't that great of an action hero. He never came off as particuarly good in any action scenes to me, with the exception of the last act of Serenity.

That's why I said Adam Baldwin.... Jayne is awesome.

I really don't think he has the looks for Ford calibur, and none of the grit of Willis calibur.

He's perfect at was he is: Nathan Fillion. He's one of those actors who brings alot of himself to a character.

That's why I said Adam Baldwin.... Jayne is awesome.

Like I said, he doesn't have the star power...he hasn't been in alot of films, mostly TV shows. And correct me if I'm wrong, but he's never played a main character, has he?

He saved Bill Pullman's ass in Independence Day.

Fans(bad fans) are the main reason why actors get pigeonheld.Vin Diesel said once that he loves doing action films but doesnt want to do too many because of what happened to Stallone and Willis.Fine actors who werent able to stretch as much because of fans wanting to only see them do action. So as you can see by his choices as well as the Rocks, they do not want to just do action even though there both great at it.The Rock is more Arnold then anything but hes trying to grow as an actor.I wish him the best but with those bad fans waiting to hold him back its gonna be hard. And Diesel was awesome in find me guilty. You cant blame them really.Stallone is 60 and Willis is 45.They both have proven to be great talents outside the action genre, but still have to bring back the action just to get attention because of the bad fans.lmao at how many times i said bad fans....
