Action in the movie

If you guys want to see more superhero action injected into Watchmen, why not just check out the dozens of other superhero movies or stay tuned for the Justice League movie, because Watchmen isn't about the cool action scenes.

yes, it's not about the action, but there is nothing wrong with scenes being filmed in a very creative way, as in 300.

300 was ****ing Mother Goose in comparison to Watchmen's complexities. The last thing this movie needs is an excess of visual style over narrative and thematic substance.

Visual style and narrative/thematic substance can co-exist just fine in film. I just hope many of you aren't expecting a David Fincher look, because Snyder is not David Fincher.

They can, but hardly ever do. I'm not looking for Fincher stylings here, unless we're talking about Zodiac. What I don't want to see is a lot of slow motion to sped up shots. Such eye candy is a sure way to take one out of the reality that a movie like this needs. I think Snyder is capable of restraint, and the movies he has talked about as visual/thematic references give me hope, but every time a fan talks about how cool 300 looked, I die a bit inside. Even those who liked 300 admit that it was eye candy and fluff.

Vietnam
Prison Riot
Keene Act riots
Minute-Men busting vice dens
Rorsarch verse cops
Assanination attempt on Veidt
Rorsarch and Nightowl trashing underworld bars

see there's seven exisitng oppurtunities right there. just ramp up the action in scenes already in the story. In terms of brand new stuff, a quick power display from Dr.Manhatten is probably the only thing that's needed. Please, no saving-the-world-in-the-midddle-of-dinner nonsense though. Unless dinner is a four cheese pizza.

You know, visual style sometimes is thematic substance, especially in movies (see e.g. Antonioni, Bergman, etc).

Not in Zack Snyder movies, though. His visual style is usually just eye candy, yes.

Oh please god, no slow-mo/fast-mo in this movie. It was kinda lame in 300, but it would be super lame in Watchmen.

300 was macho bull****, but the mini itself was macho bull****. I mean, it's Frank Miller.

Watchmen is a completely different monster, and I think (hope?) even Snyder understands that.

Don't forget Dan and Laurie getting mugged.

And the climatic set-piece also has a considerable amount of action (including some giant-Manhattan action).

Speaking of giant-Manhattan, his scene in Vietnam will probably be extended (is just one panel on the comic), and the Prison Riot is the best way for them to include a little more Manhattan action (they just have to make him come back from Mars a little earlier, it wouldn't hurt the story).

There's going to be plenty of action in this movie, and it won't make it any less faithful to the source.

They will need action scenes, because non-fans will make up a large part of the box office. They aren't going to see talking. You know what Watchmen is about, just hearing dialogue from the book will cause you to orgasm, but I'm talking about these regular 17-30 year olds that just see a superhero flick and nothing else.
