Advent Children, English version

I think that Advent Children would of worked much better as a game. There were no character devlopements in this movie, nor did it contain an epic scale.

I liked it, but I didn't love it. The dubbing was decent though.

i disagree about the character development part, as i think Cloud had a pretty life changing turn around in this film. even Kadaj had a nice bit of sentimentality towards the end, i even felt bad for him... everyone else was just kind of there, though (not too much different from the game)

the lack of epic-ness i can agree with, though.

the movie easily coulda just been the cut scenes from an actual game

question:

I'm a big fan of FFVII *not so much the others*
should I see this film or will it destroy the fond memories of what was a great story and should have been the first ff cinema movie instead of the poo story of spirits within???

if you're any kind of fan of FFVII, then you ought to see this, asap. it doesn't really break any new ground in the FFVII universe, but it doesn't crap on anything, either. it just a nice addition to the story, with some of the sickest action (anime or live action) that you're likely to see for the next few years.

I agree. I became so attached to the characters in VII that it was nice to revisit them in a new media.

I don't understand why people expected to see FFVII-2. Seriously, you knew it was a film with a running time of 2 hours or less. Don't expect another 50+ hour game's worth of character development and story from a 90-minute film.

It's actually 101 if you count the credits and the CLOSING music video sequence.

Which was totally clown shoes by the way.

The fight scenes were nice to watch, but since I last played FF7 like 6 years ago, the story didnt really make any sense at all

While the movie could have benefitted from a bit more story and action and it could have been more epic, i think there definately was some character development, especially with Cloud.

I think the most Character Development went to Cloud & the group that wanted to be forgiven for their sins in the past & truly wanted to help re build what they destroyed. I kept on thinking through most of the Movie that they mroe then likely had something up their sleeves & would have screw Cloud over the first chance they get. But they did not at all

They did screw him over the start, Rufus told Kadajj that Cloud had Jenova, thats why they attacked him in the desert.

heh, more action?

i think this movie had more action to story ratio than any other movie i've seen.

and after the Bahumut (sp?) fight, the action more or less never stopped.

Yeah, but while i thought the Bahamut fight was totally satisfying, for me the fights with Kadaj and Sephiroth were not. I felt they were too short, especially as the whole movie had built up to the return of Sephiroth.

yeah, i would've liked to see more 'team action' too.

oh well.

the last 30 minutes of the film were dedicated to action and a decent chunk of the first hour were also dedicated to action

the film consisted of separately

1,2,3,4,5,6, 7 action scenes

cloud vs loz and yazoo on bikes at the beginning
tifa vs loz
cloud vs loz yazoo and kadaj in the forest
cloud and others vs bahumut
cloud vs loz and yazoo on bikes
cloud vs kadaj
cloud vs sephiroth

for those who thinkthe battles were too short, try watching most action scenes in movies, they are only about three minute long maximum once you take out the faff. it's only short in comparison to other anime battles which tend to last multiple episodes but for a feature, i think they were all about right, especially the last two.

There was a lot of talking that extended the fight scene's though, not enough actual fighting IMO.

its quite funny that my brother bought this and showed me it minutes after I posted that!!!!

I have watched it and totally agree...it doesnt add much at all as a sequel but didnt ruin ffvii for me. the animation was amazing and the voives were especially good (although barret was a little too high pitched for my liking)

really liked it-although it wasnt really a movie-more like an episode of a cartoon series. I liked how cloud SPOLIER!!!!!! ends up with tifa and how aeris is with zack beyond the grave. happy endings arent always bad....

At the end at least cloud got to see Aries and I think he was just happy with just seeing her, that's probably why he said "yea everything is gonna be alright" The voice acting was perfectly fine, you people are just over anaylzing it too much, you can't get rid of the lip syncing 100% in animation, but it was close enough, alot of action but I wanted to be moved by the end and didn't,I'm glad I bought it and the animation was amazing, but animation doesn't make the movie, this film is certianly better than spirits within, and never boring. I always liked the relationship between Yuna and Tidus more so than Cloud and Aries..I thought they killed off Aries a little too quick in FF7 IMO. But was still disapointed that she died.

Cloud and Aeris was a great relationship, and Cloud and Tifa should never be more than friends, which they werent in AV. I would like to see sequels to FF8 and 9 now, they would be great as well.

Sephiroth vs. Cloud was over 6 minutes. I don't see how it could've been much longer.

And Cloud and Tifa do want to bump uglies.

He asks her out in Reminiscene ;) .

Cloud and Aeris was a great relationship

Yes but I felt it was a little too brief of a realtionship, then she died.

I'm watching it right now. I just finished the first fight in the Forgotten City. Barrett sounds absolutely ridiculous (did they cast a bad Mr.T impersonator for the role or something?)...None of the voices are really doing it for me, to be honest. Its ok. Not too great. Not really bad. Its just...meh...so far. The plot just isn't pulling me in. The animation and fight scenes are great...but thats about it.

And just for the record.....didn't Tseng die in Final Fantasy VII (the game)?
