I finally got the red lights of death:down Couple of days after Christmas:rolleyes: Good news is that I still had my warranty from K-mart! Went to K-mart to get it replaced and they told me I had to call a 1800 number! Called and they said they will send a box for you to put your xbox in. Apparntly K-mart repairs Xbox 360 now:confused: I also called MS and there sending a box as well. Made a topic on the xbox fourms and both MS/K-mart got mixed reviews when it comes to reparing 360's! Some said there still waiting for a box to come? Another one said there still waiting for there 360 to come back? So either way im ****ed!!!

OK, by 1-800 I take it you mean 1-800-MY-XBOX?

If so it takes sometime for people to get their boxes, but since Tech support has no control over the boxes it is not really their fault. UPS usually does the delivery of the boxes to the customers. I do realize that some people maybe a little pissed though. I mean if I was some of the customers I used to help at Xbox I would not blame them for being a little pissed. BUT, once a Hardware agent makes the proper things on our end, it is out of their hands and in the hands of other people to do what they are supposed to.

However, I would call them back if they did not give you your box in a few weeks. It could be possible that people are just getting the wrong agents when they call. Some are better than others, that I have worked with at least. Just wondering, did u remember not to include any accessories when you send it in? Please do, unfortunately if you don't the Microsoft repair center may not fix it. Not my rules, but just what they do over there.

Point of this little friendly reply is, if something should happen with the box do not blame the agents who work for Microsoft. They are only allowed to do so much and then the rest is off limits, once it is so far it is totally out of their hands. Odds are if you tell them the details they will be able to find out what happened though.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the advice but is it true that they will just replace my 360 with a refurbished one?

Could be either new or refurbished, before April refurbished and Above April it would be new. Hope that helps L.A.

Listen to MurphyMan.

Wow. This seems to be happening to alot more people now.

They told me 14 days. God I hope that's the case.:csad:

It's only happened to two people on these forums in the last few months. So I don't think it is happening that frequently, but I'd say still not as great as wanted.

But two of them happening all this week!

There goes 3 this week???!!!

Apparently Xbox 360 hates Christmas.

:(

Mine's still perfect though. I have to ask, you guys don't leave yours on the carpet or somewhere where it's not getting alot of ventilation, do you?

Defintely not on the carpet! I put it right next to my speakers in the shelf on my entertainment system. And I had standing it right up.

Ah, I don't know what to tell you then. I guess it was just it's time to go. I've made sure I keep mine on a surface that doesn't soak up/retain heat well and in a room that's always cold. Keep the fan on all the time when it's running too, to promote air flow. And I haven't really had many problems.

That's the most I could suggest doing for your next console, keep it cool all the time. I have yet to have it for a full year though, so I'll see if it doesn't R.L.O.D. me.

Man I am having scond thoughts about getting a 360. Reading about al of these problems, having a couple frineds having these problems and tonight I was in Game Crazy looking at them as they have a good deal on trading in your old PS2 and getting a 360, they take 75 bucks off the price of the 360. However the 25 minutes I was in there TWO people returned faulty machines.

Last thing I need is a headache like that, my original xbox has given me enough of them.

Still considering it though. We will see.

MS just actually extended the warranty to a year, for free...so, just send it to MS...BTW, my 360 has yet to give me any problems...I've had lockups, but I blame that on glitches with the games seeing as I've never gotten red lights or had it lock up while doing anything but play Oblivion, Saints Row, and Superman Returns (the buggiest game on the face of the f**king earth)

oh that sucks.

at least with best buy, they give you a new one.

10 months is not long :(

Man I've been hearing about this happening to a lot of people. Now I'm REALLY afraid that this will happen to me.

A joke :woot:.

Seriously I feel bad for you guys, are the ones with consoles dying consoles that you've had for months, or just got at Christmas? Wondering if it's a new batch or if some of the old ones just have life spans of a year because of defects most consoles have with the first wave. I know one of you said like 10 months. Either way g'luck getting them fixed.

Edit - Love my mad photoshop skills lol. Googled a pic of a kid playing a game to make that, and the kid was playing a PS, so had to edit in a Halo screen on the TV and the controller and console and gun. Problem is it can be hard to warp a square just right to fit the curves of a TV and noticed white parts at the top of the TV and side heh. Oh well, only took 10 mins to make or less anyway.

I've had mine since Feb or March of last year. It's in a shelf next to my TV in my entertainment center, and it gets good ventilation. I called customer support and the woman there says she's POSITIVE it's the cable connection. So we turned that in (probably for nothing. I think my 360 itself is being a little *****.)

As someone said earlier in this thread, it is possible the Warranty has been changed since I worked at Tech Support, so, for Warranty questions I would suggest CALL 1-800-MYXBOX about it, or look on the website www.xbox.com for some info. Although xbox.com is known to some, and me included from Xbox to might as well be called www.bull****.com.

P.S.: I 'WOULD NOT' BUY AN XBOX360' having worked for Microsoft.

But that is just me, I also think Linux is ten time better than windows on a PC.

That begs the question, then.. would you buy a PS3 over a Xbox 360?

Pretty much all of my problems revolved around the games more than the system. And I seem to have less problems when I lay my system down instead of standing it up.
