No it's not good logic.

X2 was far better than X1.

Was it a sign that Singer developed as an action movie director? yes.

But fans of X-men also benefited.

If Tim Story gets better and better at directing FF movies the fans benefit.

Look, when you say "gets better" we may assume it's already good, don't we? :cwink:

IMO, it's useless: Story just doesn't get it. It's just too much what he can't get of the FF (whether because of Fox dogs or himself).

I'm not implying he's stupid, but he is not the director for this job.

yeah I think Story should stay. Sure FF was horrible and FF2 was a great imporvement, and I don't want an X3 where insted of taking it one more step we go back 4.

Why would a new director instantly be Batman or X-Men? Maybe it would have the opposite effect.

But at this point, I think we should consider the possibility. It could go wrong, but it could be a great improvement. :hyper:

I think the next movie will have more money, more time, and more devotion from Story...it will more than likely be better than 2 just as 2 was better than 1.

Well we've had what superman 3 and 4, blade 3, batman forever( I liked it), batman and robin, and X-3 ruined by getting new directors. So the record shows that getting new directers is a bad idea. But of course like everything it could be good. But really I'd rather not take that chance.

New directors haven't been the only problem (Blade II had a new director). Poor choices for director have.

Just get a good director, but with FOX, not sure the suits would go for it, and might get the next Story type person (on the rise and cheaper).

That's hardly enough.

I Think He Should Get Another Crack At It.
I Disliked The First One For The Cheesy Action//effects.
And Doom Was A Real Wuss! The Acting By Mr. Fantastic, sue Storm Was Also Painfull To Watch...
But!!!!!!

With That Said The F4 Is A Real Hard Task To Get Right
It's Easy For Us Back Seat Drivers To Come Down On The Director, but The Actors Are Not Rookie's Either (robert Deniro
Is Always Worth Watching W/bad Directors In Bad Movies) So All The Blame Can't Be Loaded On To Tim Story.. He Apparently Loves His Subject Matter , Read Comics As A Kid, And Liked The F4.

This Time Around He's Got The Feel For What He Can Do With F4
Got The Right Story Line For The 2nd Film(galactus Effects Aside) And Got My Alltime Favorite Character In The Marvel Universe! Norrin Radd A.k.a. Silver Surfer! He Went For The Jugular On This One And Pretty Much Nailed It!

The Acting Was Better This Time Around, The Movie Was Funny But Not Campy. Got The Torch/thing Stuff Better This Time Around(stan Lee/kirby Should Be Proud) Action Scenes Were Better Laid Out. A Little Too Fast Paced In Areas But, Did We Really Want Another 2.5 Hour Movie?

The Surfer Was Awesome!!! Yes They Switched Stuff Around W/his Powers And The Board But I Got The Whole Collection Of
Surfer Comics At Home(original/2nd Series/and All The Rest)so
I Really Didnt Want A Page-per-page On Screen Crossover!

Didnt Like Doom, I Think The Actor Really Blows(i Know He's On Nip/tuck Bla,bla, bla)
They Should Have Gotten Some More Rough Looking , Maybee With A Slight Accent (latervian) To Do His Role..

But You Cant Have It All!
Just Glad To See It On The Big Screen!

The Last Scene With The Surfer Shooting Up At Galactus(cloud)
Was Really Impressive And Gave Me Goosebumps!

The Way I See It Galactus Was Hovering In The Cloud (in!)
And I Thought I Saw The Cloud In The Begining Have The Shape Of His Headgear(pointy Things).. Just My Perception..

Bottom Line If He Wants To Come Back Let Him!
Loose Dr. Doom(god Forgive Me For Saying That)
And Lets Get That Famous Shot Of The Very First Ff Comic Cover On The Big Screen!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nuff Said!

I forgot about Blade 2. I can' belive that. That movie was great.

You don't know because we know absolutely nothing about the next film if it even gets the greenlight. So lets quit the whining over something that doesn't even exist yet shall we:cwink:

Tim Story definitely deserves to direct FF3. He has a LOT of respect and knowlege of the source material. Heck, he's an admitted old school FF fan.

I find it funny that many internet fans give someone like Bryan Singer a pass for the (IMO) underwhelming first X-MEN movie and the borring rehash travesty called SUPERMAN RETURNS, but continue to rake Tim Story over the coals and call for his fireing after the (IMO) very EXCELENT FF2. Let's be honest, Story's FF movies have been a lot more faithful to the comics then Singer's X-MEN movies.

the double standard is ridiculous. FF2 is a solid comic book movie but people can't stop hating on Tim Story long enough to admit it to themselves.
:whatever:

I expect this petty arrogance from snobby critics who think "Silver Surfer" is a silly concept but fans of the character should know better. Singer could've introduced Silver Surfer's bastard son and had him throw a piano at Galactus and all these Tim Story-haters would be saying Singer should get another 3 or 4 chances.

I think they should get John Singleton(Four Brothers, 2F2F, Boyz In The Hooz) or Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Bourne Identity).

John Songleton? Don't make me throw up.

You must skip this thread, then. Try reading what it is about before start this silly "whining" teasing, will you? :o

i like Tim Story but if we do get a new director what does everybody think of the guy who directed The Bourne Supremacy, i forget his name but he is a pretty good director. They definently need to keep the cast though

Yes.

He directorial skills have certaily improved since the first one and I think if he do another it will be even better.

I hovered on the fence for quite a while before finally voting "no".

I think his heart is in the right place, and considering the limited budget, VERY short time to pull all this together and editing (that takes any sense of drama or anticipation out of the whole thing) to get down to 90 minutes, the fact that he was able to put something together that was even watchable is impressive.

. . . but I would be interested to see what a different director with a different vision could do.

I'd also like to a larger budget, more production time and a film that is allowed to breath. If those things aren't in place, I don't think there's a director in the world who can do justice to the material.

yeah I think Story should stay. Sure FF was horrible and FF2 was a great imporvement, and I don't want an X3 where insted of taking it one more step we go back 4.

.... And an Xmen 3-type ( or worse) is exactly what we will
get if we continue with Story as FF director.

:thing:

... Ang Lee is not a bad director - its just that
he is completely wrong and miscast for an superhero-action director.
He was just a bad choice to be director for the HULK and it cause the
film to be a bad production.

Tim Story is no different. He is obviously much suited for
his comedy element (barber shop, taxi driver) than as an
action-hero director.
- That's where i'd wish the exe producers would wake up and
realize that.

:csad:

Get another director and a studio who isn't afraid to spend some big bucks.

Man I've seen people writing stuff in all caps, and some writing stuff with no caps. But I've never seen anyone writing a post that long, that capitalized every first letter of every single word.

erm, don't say "ALL of these Story-Haters", 'cause I was very vocal about what a piece of dung Superman Returns was as well. And how lame the action was in X-Men.

Also Tim Burton's unwatchable Batman. And George Lucas' criminally abhorrent Star Wars prequels.
I could go on for hours.
It's not a double standard.
A poorly made movie is a poorly made movie.
