... What route would you like WB to go down?

It seems Nolan & co don't want to stay on for more than three films, so we should expect major changes some time after the sequel to 'The Dark Knight'. I thought we could have a poll on a few of the more distinct options WB has, and discuss it all more in detail.

Original stories
These would be films not based on any currently available Batman stories. A good option for those who find adaptations superfluous and/or often disappointing. Could be a series of stand-alone stories, or a series of connected ones.

Graphic novel adaptations
For those of you who've longed for on-screen versions of The Killing Joke, Arkham Asylum, something Elseworlds, and whatnot. Could be an adaptation on some comic book story arch, as well. The adapations could be stand-alone, or be joined together somehow.

Another franchise reboot
Not happy with the current take on the Batman mythos? Or simply want to see some variation of the same thing? This option would mean a new origin film and some sequels to it, perhaps with a completely different approach to it all.

Continuation of current series
While Nolan & co may not stay, WB might still want to expand upon their material. It's possible that we'll see another team (new director, new actors, etc.) pick up where Nolan & co left off. The poll option means you'd possibly like it even if Nolan & co does not stay.

None of the options exclude the possibility of the others happening at some point, this is just about what you'd like WB to do first, once the current series reaches its end.

There's such a vast amount of choices with this direction.

Nolan directs a trilogy. (done by 2011)

Then Batman appears in a Justice League trilogy. (done by 2017)

5 years after that Frank Miller and Zach Snyder direct the Dark Knight Returns. (2023)

Another 10 years do Kingdom Come. (2033)

Then do a reboot. (2040)

That'd be a great idea but I dont want or care about a Justice League trilogy.

Hopefully they get a new cast and crew and do distant sequels. Graphic novel adaptations would be awesome but I doubt it'll ever happen on the big screen. They always think of new ideas, none of the films are adaptations of a single story.

Only thing id want to see JL and Batman is an adaptation of the tower of babel were Batmans plans to take them all down are stolen.

I say keep with the current series, or atleast acknowledge certian things from the Nolan series, but after he is done keep on going and treat the Batman Franchise like The James Bond Franchise. I think that Batman has more than 3 (Nolan-Related) movies to tell his story, so keep going with Batman, throw in a team up movie here and there, but keep going with Bats as the main guy and I think it will work, if Bond can do it, I think Bats can do it as well....

I'd prefer a loose continuation of the current series. Y'know, something that isn't just a copy of Nolan's style, but something that doesn't invalidate anything done in Nolan's movies. Personally, I'm just always really interested in seeing a different take and different directorial style on Batman.

That would be nice, just a Batman movie not really in any continuity.

Maybe acknowledge past history, but the director make his own vision of Batman as a dark knight. The reason I say this is the past Burton/ Schumacher franchise started out dark, followed the continiuty somwhat, but went to bad camp.
It can follow, but I really want to see villians like Mr. Freeze, Man-Bat, Clayface, Killer Croc, etc. who maybe in terms not be " realistic" villians like in the Nolan movies, but would be interesting to see.

After Nolan, I'd like to see a return to the more comic-bookish stylings ala Batman Forever (without the camp of course). Maybe a bit more color and humor, less serious w/ lots of cool action, etc. The films wouldn't have to follow or acknowledge Nolan's movies, but shouldn't flatly contradict them either if possible.
