Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD TV series for ABC - General Discussion - LEVEL 11 - Part 4

Rewatching season 1 is a pleasure.
I think one of the reasons I was so critical was a combination of expectations and constant breaks and the milking of mysteries.

When it is viewed as a whole it is quite the pleasure despite some glaring shortcomings.
Since I finally got around to reading my Simonson Thor omnibus I could appreciate that they did Lorelei justice as well.
Same can't be said for Deathlok, but the way they are pushing him with his own new series and the reprinting of a bunch of Deathlok trades it is sure he'll come back this season and be set to impress.

Marvel is certainly making good use of their one-hour weekly slot on ABC - A weekly series tied to and promoting the MCU, a mini series featuring a character appearing in both of their Summer 2015 releases and two hour-long infomercials.

People sweating the week to week ratings need to factor in the promotional impact of the show on the multi-billion dollar cinematic universe.
Aye it pays to remember that keeping the brand fresh in everyones mind is no doubt a factor. In that light the show itself could be viewed as an (expensive) long form advertisement.
Agreed. It's also important to remember that live ratings aren't quite the be-all, end-all they used to be. Live+3 and Live+7 ratings have become slightly more important, and when those numbers are factored in the show's numbers are fairly decent.

  Double agreed!!

What to watch on TV this week:

"2. MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Hail Hydra! Like many, I was ready to give up on this series three episodes in. But when it tied its plot to that of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it finally found its legs. These days, with S.H.I.E.L.D. in hiding, it resembles Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

Critics are liking it these days.

Agreed! The first season had problems but I still enjoy it.

I had read the Simonson Thor omnibus about a year before and had recently reread so I really enjoyed both Sif and Lorelei in the episode.

4?! Noooo, say it ain't so, that's so soon

At least it will mean more episodes during springtime. But, I agree it is a shame, as I thought that they would show 12 episodes before midseason-break.

My understanding was 10, making it 12 when we get back. By my count, it seems to be an even 11 before and 11 after. That's fine with me. I'm not sure I want only 10 after the break.

I may have to watch this online on ABC.COM as I am going to have to miss this tonight.

I'm hoping we definitively find out about Coulson tonight. I know Storytelling 101 dictates to drag it out a little longer but I'm ready to see them "deal" with whatever the answer is. I'm sure the show won't get canceled as it's popular in cherished demographics and creates other revenue streams but I also would like them to start getting to an answer sooner rather than later to a question that's been lingering for two years.

I made the mistake of going to the shows Facebook page...where I saw people claiming that season 1 was great but season 2 sucks...and one guy claiming that no one likes the alien writing storyline. These people have a completely different view of entertainment than I do.

Wonder why? everyone on my FB likes it for the most part

Edit and the actual AoS facebook has nothing but praise

Skye name drops an online contact called Micro?! That Micro, tied to Punisher!!

My TV glitched, did Ward name drop Strucker?

yup, it was a Strucker mention.

Also, [blackout]the drawing apparently are a Map of a city. Attilan? [/blackout]

So another excellent episode. Damn I hate waiting a week . :(

I've feel like a fool thinking Skye & her father are [blackout]Kree [/blackout] when in fact they are [blackout]Inhumans! [/blackout]

All of this makes so much more sense now:
  • The Ancient Alien
  • The regenerative powers of the blood
  • The increased knowledge
  • The Artifact
Terrigan Mist is what was in the alien's blood!

:shr:

I would not be surprised that Skye's father is [blackout]Maximus![/blackout]

Ward mentioned that Strucker was "overseas" and guessed that Bakashi must be working for someone else as a result (Whitehall).
