It could've been stylised, but less like a helmet and more like say, Skeletor's skull, which still has emotion:

LOL of all the examples, Skeletor was completley generic design, with a flat one dimension cackling emotion.

Love how stylized he looks, the exaggerated sinister brow, the hard clean edges and exhausts that somewhat reference the car.
I imagine this is a projection of how Robbie sees this dark force, and that every Rider would project something different.

He still has emotion though. It's a sinister, cackling one, but it's not expressionless like a normal skull or the skull from the Ghost Rider movies. So since it's not expressionless like a real skull, it can't be generic. And I'm not saying for it to be bright yellow like that or even flat, but for the eyeholes and jaw etc to be of more regular proportions.

And I'm pretty sure Skeletor's jaw moved in the cartoon. I'd like for Ghost Rider's to be able to do the same when he talks.

To me it just looks like a terminator skull with flames around it.

Oh, it moved. Especially when he was insulting everyone around him :woot:

They could have probably easily created a regular human skull for Ghost Rider. But again, this is not Blaze or Ketch. This is Reyes' Ghost Rider. And Reyes' Rider looked vastly different from any other Rider.

And while they seem to have certainly changed some things from the comics, like actually giving him a skull on fire, I like that they're still paying homage to his unique look.

Not really other than they're both skulls,
Terminator is more bulbous, more like Skelator.
And with obvious mechanical parts, don't see Reyes' GR there at all.

Who said Reyes' GR wasn't able to move his mouth?
He hasn't spoken while transformed yet, so not allot of movement needed there, most expression came from the eyes, but you do see the mouth can move, when he transforms and other scenes, so don't pretend like it can't.
They'll exploit it as it's needed.

True!
I'm glad they didn't use a more generic skull, but gave Reyes his own look.

Yeah I get the reasoning and did like when season 3 come on there were no breaks. But it's frustrating seeing other people talking about something we will have to wait months to see.

.

It's not just Channel 4 either but Channel 5 with Gotham.

The Reyes skull looked very distinctive and the show did a great job replicating that look.

If Punisher guest starred, would he be watered down? And he wouldn't stand a chance against Ghost Rider since he's not enhanced at all. Ghost Rider would probably go after him too, even though they're both vigilantes. In fact, how many of the MCU characters would be able to hold their own against Ghost Rider if he has the penance stare on top of all the hellfire?

Why? Ghost Rider was pretty violent. As long as you're not showing complete gore onscreen there'd be no issue.

Who says he'd be fighting Ghost Rider?

The only thing that would really need to be toned down for Punisher would be his language. He's definitely not going to be cussing up a storm like he did on Netflix.

Pretty much. You can get by with a lot of violence on tv nowadays. This show has been quite violent at times, just never as dark as DD season 2 They would just not show blood, or cut away from anything too gory.

It would certainly be interesting to see Punisher's reaction to a super powered character. Specially Ghost Rider, who judges and kills people like Punisher but actually knows for certain whether they're innocent and beyond redemption. Another interesting idea is, would Punisher pass his judgement?

Punisher is never showing up in this series :D .

All the bad stuff Ghost Rider does here kind of happens off screen. It's more suggestive than anything.

Yeah. And Bernthal won't be full on NYCC because of some filming... But he isn't filming any Defenders or Punisher spin-off thingies, right? I mean, it's too early, no?
Fingers crossed for a Punisher appereance on AoS!!!

I'd like to point out that while he's not their main creator Conway did have a hand in creating both Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing as well, since we're going supernatural. (Roy Thomas would probably make more sense for those I guess, but it's still possible he wasn't available or something like that.) With the other crossover/Bernthal filming news it would still seem a Punisher crossover will happen, but I'm just looking at all options.

To those saying Punisher won't show up because he's too dark...

Anything is possible. Punisher comics are darker than most other MARVEL comics, still doesn't stop him from showing up there as well.

Same with every character, you change them up and see a different side of them due to the world they're inhabiting. It happens in the comics, it happens in the movies, I don't see what's so impossible about it happening on TV (in fact, in animated kids' show TV it already has numerous times over).

I'm not saying he will appear factually, but I am saying it's ridiculous to act like it's an impossible mergence that will never happen when it's remarkably simple and has billions of prior examples from multiple sources of it happening - in a lot more family oriented content as well.

They already name-dropped Man-Thing way back in season 1, so it's a possibility that he already exists in the MCU.

So with the hype around Ghost Rider, the promise of a new and darker direction, and a true love for the films and Netflix series I've decided to give this show another chance. I haven't watched since like the second episode of season 3.

Here's what I liked:
1) Ghost Rider in the MCU (actually having a relevant character on this show)
2) GR's special effects
3) Darker tone (GR scenes felt closer to the Netflix shows)
4) Potential Netflix crossover potential
5) Ghosts in the box storyline looks promising

However I still can't bring myself to care about any of the SHIELD team cast. I still can't stand Fitz-Simmons (particularly the guy). The acting is subpar and very "tv cheesey" compared to the Netflix shows. And it still has the unfortunate postioton of being the MCU's unwanted step child.

Overall a small improvement but still a long way to go. I'll watch for Ghost Rider and see where it all leads from there.
