The Dark Knight AICN: Costume change happens ON camera?

damn...why are there so many holes in the anti-oval argument?

You people might as well say the real reason you dont want the oval: you just dont like it. Cause otherwise, these ridiculous excuses can easily be shot down

The belt is clearly visible. I don't care what it's "official color" is. It's a visible yellowish/gold belt.

And when Robin died, Batman didn't tell Jason to wait for the Joker and his henchmen. He begged Jason not to attempt to deal with The Joker at all.

It's not that visible, not in a way a bright yellow oval is.

I know. He didn't ring 1800-SIDEKICK either. I have read 'A Death in the Family'.

Haha, this is what I've been thinking all along. If Batman's look was entirely based off functionality and stealth, he might not even look like the Batman of the comics at all.

Lets see a show of virtual hands. Who doesn't want the yellow oval simply because you don't think it looks good?

Exactly. People are nitpicking a part of the costume thats not even that large and visible, and yet they forget the bulky yellow belt(that IS more visible than the oval), the bright gray, etc? If Batman really wanted to be stealthy....he wouldnt have any symbol.

And guard is right. Batman's about building a rep. I know people have been spoonfed Denny O Neil's "Batman wants everyone to think he dosent exist even though countless hoods and thugs, citizens, and police force members can verify his existance, as well as the fact that he's a member of the JLa, etc.", but Batman's about people knowing he exists. "I want you to tell all your friends about me"

I would say Bats wants to spread his legend. He wants people to know he is there watching over the, but his aim is to appear as a supernatural presence, not a man of flesh and blood, who wouldn't be half as initimidating. Urban legend is the status he's aiming for - what is he, not does he exist.

Your last statement contradicts your first. You cant have people know you're protecting them, and then say he's about wanting people to guess what he is rather than does he exist. He wants people to know there's a guy dressed up like a bat running around, who can apparently dodge bullets and knock you out before you can even blink.

All one needs to do as look at BB. Even Bruce in playboy mode acknowledges the fact that Batman is a guy rather than some supernatural force.

"A Guy dressed up like a bat clearly has issues"

All very true.

I think the non-oval version looks better, yes. I never claimed otherwise.

I just happen to think that Batman Begins seems to show us that Nolan has a similar mindset. Could he prove me wrong? Sure. Will he? Maybe, but I doubt it.

*Hand*

I'm not opposed to the oval, its just that if they introduce it it has to be in a realistic fashion, such as directing bullets away from Bats' head. Other than that, I feel it'd be kinda weird going from his black logo to he oval, there needs to be a realistic and good reason and frankly, I feel that the "bullet to the chest" thing is a good reason, but may not be viewed as a strong enough argument. I mean, he survived in Begins right?

i don't mean to toot my own horn, but since the costume thing has come up again i feel i should post what i'm hoping the new suit will look like...even if it's not exact...

once again...props goto lujho for coming up with the idea of using the F4 costume as the basis for the suit.

And I'll drag out my old approximations (also based on F4 suit)... I think somewhere between mine and yours would be really coo, personally.

i do kinda wish they went with the pouchy looking belt.

Lets see a manip of a black and grey BEGINS-ish costume with the BEGINS bat in the oval on chest. That would look so fly.

So that the bat symbol is actually visible.

Then you might as well get rid of the Begins bat-symbol because bats wings arent that straight and narrow.:o
Unless you were talking about the Begins bat-symbol because then I agree.
The Bat symbol is visible, not that it needs to be. I'm still down for the stealth idea.

hehe, funny how that artist based Commissioner Gordon on Morgan Freeman but he ended up playing Lucius Fox.
