:nightcrawler:

I simply cannot wait. X2 was the first ever Marvel movie I've seen in the cinemas, so the Nightcrawler White House scene in X2 was also the first scene I've seen in the cinemas from a Marvel movie. I think I just turned 14 that week.

Also a big bonus for me, is Alan Cumming is the host of The Traitors U.S. I loved the first 3 seasons, and I'm looking forward to the next season, next year. So having him back as Nightcrawler couldn't come at any better time than now.

Appearing on Jenna & Friends, Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming revealed that he will indeed be wearing makeup as the teleporting mutant for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. With cameras set to roll on Sunday, Cumming confirmed that he already completed makeup tests during pre-production and that they are able to get the process done in under 20 minutes, compared to the 3 or 4 hours it took while filming X2: X-Men United (2003). Instead of creating Kurt Wagner’s facial scars by hand, they are now 3D printed.

I don't want those face scars back. I just want Alan to look like this.
:bamf:

I'm so glad he's not going to be CG. At least that's one thing the movie is getting right.

I suspect they are going to use CG to augment or enhance aspects of the look, like getting rid of obvious seams in the makeup, digital touch ups, etc.

I think body movements would be done in mocap/cgi.

Alan is going to be fun around the set that is for sure. They never had Nightcrawler do much in the movies though.

I figure they'll do his facial makeup (with ears) practical
Then use CGI to do the eyes, teeth, hands, feet, and tail
and most likely any action shots will be fully cgi using a stunt man with some tracking dots on his face

Nightcrawler in Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse had an okay-sized role. Its just that he wasn't written very well.

That was young Nightcrawler though. He is a CGI heavy character with the bamf in fighting but Alan Cummings only had the White House scene which was great and memorable but not much outside of that. I just don't know if he will want to be in that makeup for a good amount of time, where the young actor kind of had to.

I did skip Phoenix so I can't speak on that movie.

Nightcrawler had character development in X2.

And you should check X-Men: Dark Phoenix for the full Foxverse experience.

I just want to see Alan using swords. I'm not expecting a lot of character development, just utilize the characters a lot better.

I don't really care about Nightcrawler using swords, but that would be interesting if they give him long swords in the movie.
