Alex Garland Directional Debut "Ex Machina"

Many similar themes with AI flicks.

I Robot
Blade Runner
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Automata

Automata was pretty good. Kind of went under the radar.

Was Automata any good? I liked the robot designs, judging from the trailer.

Javier Bardem voicing a robot. What's not to like about that?

I freakin loved Automata. Shame the critics didn't.

The Machine was good I really really liked it looking forward to seeing Ex Machina for sure

I haven't seen Automata, but out of those three Ex Machina was more convincing with A.I. advancement. I also think it's a better film overall due to its less garish approach. That's not an insult to BR and A.I. btw; I just didn't connect with those films as much.

I really think Blade Runner is more about the atmosphere and set design than the question of 'Does an IA have a soul'? Well, besides Roy Batty's amazing speech before he died.

I saw this movie on Saturday and at first it didn't seem "amazing". I really liked it but it kind of felt like the sleek sci-fi thriller I've seen before. But it's been a couple days and i can not stop thinking about it. It's really sticking in my brain. Anyone else see it?

Just came back from seeing this, it was on my radar ever since it was announced. Absolutely loved it! Can't stop thinking about it.

Automata was great...

Also, check out The Signal. It is more 'alien' than AI but it has beautiful imagery and ideas.

Oscar Isaac dancing was amazing. The Japanese lady was also a good dancer.

Caleb was such a fool. The movie turned out somewhat predictable.

For anyone wondering what special features are on the Ex Machina Blu-ray/DVD release:

Through the Looking Glass: Creating Ex Machina 5-Part Featurette
SXSW Q&A with Cast and Crew
8 Behind-the-Scenes Vignettes

I saw it last weekend and really enjoyed it. Makes you wonder how far will we eventually take A.I.

Got the blu ray yesterday, looking forward to seeing it again tonight.

How did you get it went to get it and they told me it was moved to mid july

Watched it last night, it's so different watching again and this time we know it is Ava manipulating things when previously we thought it was Nathan, she really is a great creation.

This was real good probably the best movie of the year so far, top 3 for sure
