Sega Alien: Isolation

If the foundation of the game is running and hiding and the plan is to make a 20 hour campaign out of that, I'd say the foundation is broken. It needs more to sustain that length.

Hm, no. Well, I guess it depends on what we mean when we say "foundation". I think of the foundation of the game as the mechanics, the gameplay, etc. Length of the game is an entirely different field to me. One can be perfect, but that doesn't automatically make the other lesser or better when taken out of the whole.

The foundation kinda dictates the length. If there's not enough variety in the gameplay, the campaign can only go so long before becoming repetitive and overstaying it's welcome.

That's true, but really, it's separate things. I think of foundations, as I said, more about mechanics. Mechanics can be near flawless, but variety is a different issue. What originally started the argument was the criticism that the game 'made you crouch and hide a lot', when that is exactly the type of game the developer set out to make.

But as I said, it's semantics really I suppose. Depends on what you're definition of foundation is. If you see variety as the part of foundation, then I can see what one may mean, though I don't particularly agree with it.

apparently you can do some neat **** with Kinect with this game so if you have one...

Hmm, like what? Do you know?

Its moot as I decided to go PS4 for this game, but im curious nonetheless(my sis primarily uses my PS4 and she was really looking forward to this game).

I think I read you could track your head movements to move instead of using the analog sticks.

I dunno...one could argue that the same can be said about a stealth game like Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell...and I love those. I think the foundation of "running and hiding" can definitely work for 20 hours if they can keep your attention with the things surrounding it throughout.

Having some moments where you'll fire a gun, and face other enemies (which I believe has been confirmed) should help, too.

Yeah that Kinect option apparently lets you enable the mic so any noise you make is audible to the enemies in the game. It also tracks your head so you can peek around ****.

This, it can track you head for peeking around corners and enemies can hear the noise picked up by the mic.

There are other enemies in the game, androids and hostile humans.

I am already terrified of this game and I haven't even personally encountered the alien yet.

So why are the humans unwilling to help out Ripley in the game? It seems like they are trying to survive too.

Is it ever possible to interrupt any of their in-game conversations and approach them? Will they always attack you?

it's a plot twist you discover as you go on.

This was a game I wasn't sure I was gonna get from the jump, but as i stated before, my sister really wanted it so i went ahead and preordered it. The more i read about the game, both good and bad, the more excited I am to try it. I haven't read anything negative about it, even in the negative reviews. Too long? Not possible when paying 60 bux. Alien too difficult? Not possible, considering the Xenomorph is one of fictions most deadliest creatures. Everything about it sounds like CA really recreated what it would be like to be stuck in a location with one of these things walking around. Im really looking forward to playing the game.

Preordered this from Amazon, but I only JUST got an email saying it's been shipped, meaning it'll get here later this week despite the "guaranteed Oct 7th delivery". Razzum frazzum.

At work watching these dudes play on Twitch. ***ing hilarious.

I'm currently doing the same. People tend to get lost a lot. Especialy the female gamers. Funny stuff.

I played the first hour or so. Is there no auto save at certain points ? If not I probably wont spend that much time with this one

Nope, like old school games you gotta find a savepoint. if you die you die.

Autosaving kills tension. In similar games like Outlast, when the game autosaved, you knew you were safe.

Lame at least have an auto save

Hahaha its funny that to you that's a game killer. seriously man? Just find the save stations and save. Not hard.

PS1 more like...

After watching several streams I can tell this is the stealth game I've been waiting for in a long time. The total lack of handholding in this game is a godsend. And with the knowledge that I won't be totally defenseless the whole time, 20 hours of this is more than enough for me.

Eh, I'm pretty sure autosaving really didn't become super common until last gen (in reference to PS3/360). I'm sure it was around during the PS2 time period, but I still remember save point being pretty common at that time.

You know what? You're right. It just feels like it's been that long ago.
