Sega Alien: Isolation

I'd recommend looking up how to get some of the infinite weapons right of the bat as the combat is kind of annoying and can throw the game off a bit. Once you get the infinite SMG it makes it much easier.

I hate em...I hate ****ing Aliens! Just ****ing leave me the **** alone! :argh:

:waa:

You went to his place and started making noise. It's not his fault he's cranky.

10 times in a row he got me....10 times!

And now I'm up to the part where there's more and I have face huggers leaping at me :waa:

I love the Alien franchise (well... 1&2) buy I've still yet to get this. I've been watching Streams on and off and while it oozes the feel of the movie.. Something about it just seems off to me. Almost reminds me of Outlast or whatever that horror game was where you were in a mental ward with just your camera... And I hated that game.

It seems to be going on sales often enough so if I can snag it for under 20 user or something I just may.

That do about as much damage to the thing as they did in the movie.

The game is a huge callback to the first movie. If you liked the visuals and atmosphere if the first movie you'll love this.

I found out the other day that they released a patch for this that included a nightmare mode, which entails that your scanner is broken and your ammo and health bar are gone!
Now I really need to replay this puppy.

My mate is a huge Alien fan and he was very satisfied with the game.

Thoroughly enjoyed this game.
Great atmosphere and the locations look as if they jumped right out of the first Alien movie...

For the people who are terrible at the game but want to play it they also added a Novice mode. The achievement/trophy for beating the game on its hardest difficulty is still just hard mode though.

I promised after completing it that I wouldn't go back...

But I need to test myself on Nightmare Mode...

And now I want them to make a Predator game with Arnie doing his voice, alongside Danny Glover :hmm

Phew, I finally finished this. What a huge game!

Anyway I loved it. Amanda has to be the best video game character of 2014 by a huge mile. So brave, so practical.

The only thing I didn't like about it though is the ending. At first I was like "so what was the point" but now I realise it leaves it too open for a sequel.

Gee that last alien was terrifying though. All of them were actually

Yeah this game had a pretty massive campaign, plus the extra nice DLC. It was a nice change of pace.

I finally was able to beat this after over 16 hours now. I have not been able to play that many games from 2014, but I think this will probably be my game of the year for 2014. It's atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I haven't been this fascinated by a game's atmosphere since Bioshock. It's Alien 1979 in video game form, and it's what I have always wanted as far as playing a horror film. The androids are creepy too. I did not mind fighting humans, but I felt that firefights were very clunky. I got frustrated with the Xeno too. I could be a dozen feet away from it, and it would just run at me and kill me. Other times I could be behind it and practically touch it if I did a melee move and it was completely oblivious to my presence. The AI was enjoyable, unpredictable, and frustrating. Other than that, it had nice story, solid connection to the first film without being too "retcony", very tense and scary, effective horror without jumpscares, decent changes of pace every now and then, and it was a long campaign which is always nice.

I love that the alien isn't just another bug like in Aliens or pretty much every other game since Aliens came out. Between that and the way it just comes out of nowhere when you aren't paying attention makes it incredible.

As for the firefights, I just figured that you were dealing with people who pretty much stayed awake for weeks on nothing but drugs and adrenaline because there's a monster that could literally come from anywhere and snatch them up in seconds. Between that and the non-stop paranoia they'd be so wired and exhausted it's no wonder firefights are crap. Amanda has no experience with weapons before getting to the station so she has problems fighting back as well. It may just be head-canon but it made it work for me.

Nightmare mode is freakin' frightening! My one tool I used in my first two playthroughs has been all but rendered useless, so exploring the station feels utterly futile. I love it!
