That's actually a good point. I guess im sick of the cookie cutter cliche characters a lot of films have had lately. Like the ones in the first AVP. I miss the days were the characters were a lot better, and just cooler even. Makes me think of the first Predator and Aliens.

I really liked the characters in AVP and thought they broke with cliches in interesting ways. I mean, I watch a lot of "monsters pick off people one by one" movies. Sometimes they're completely predictable as to who's going ot die and in what order - I mean, "The Descent" was completely paint-by-numbers in regards to where those characters were going and who was going to die at what time. But as I watched AVP, I was pretty sure that Weyland was going to be the typical "company representative" character who was either completely evil or who seemed sympathetic and then turned out to be an evil money-grubbing jackass. I also predicted that it was obvious that Lex and Sebastian would hook up romantically and would both survive. If the film opted to do a group of survivors like Aliens and AR, then Graeme was the next clear contender, although I also thought he might be the "inept comic relief" character and then the "tragic death" of the group. And Verheiden seemed like a clear frontrunner for first death, due to his blowhard nature. As the film went on, I was pleased that most of these predictions did NOT come true. No romantic hookup, Graeme wasn't just "comic relief," Weyland remained sympathetic, Sebastian bit the dust brutally, etc.

You watch these kinds of movies enough, you appreciate whenever they can deviate from the norm.

UPDATE: Colin Strause on Fox withdrawing from Comic-Con:

"The R rated trailer will still be going on-line as promised, and now it means everyone gets to see it intead of just the people at the show. We were watching the trailer in our theater last night, and I really think everyone is going to be happy with it's intensity."

So, anyone know when we can expect it to be online?

That doesn't make sense:huh:

just being positive. the reason why Fox withdrew from Comic Con was because CC didnt want Fox to show any R rated material in their presentations after complaints about the naked wrestling in the Borat promo last time

It was the way he said it is STILL going online as promised and now all will be able to see it,kinda contradicts himself

Can't remember most of the characters names but I think it's Graeme. The character was played by the actor from Trainspotting, he also had a role in Pearl Harbor and The Rundown as.........comedic relief. I just saw him as the same in AVP, as comedic relief, but bad comedic relief. He was the typical gawky nervous kind of silly person with the lame/silly comments. I don't know, I was just slightly irritated by him in the film.

no....the trailer is still not finished.:csad:

Are you serious!? Isn't this movie supposed to come out later this year? I can't remember the release date, but they should have had a trailer already for this. Could this be the sign that Fox has another turd on its hands, or hopefully it's because their trying to make this movie good and have been too busy to deal with an early trailer. My instincts go with the former.

Unless of course your'e stuck at Comic-Con, which you decided to attend to get the new AVP info, and you have no Internet access for days because of it.

I got cornholed by Fox.

Sounds good

UPDATE: Greg Strause confirmed on IMDB that the trailer would go online 'a week or so' after comic-con. He also hinted that this would mean the trailer could be a little gorier than intended.:woot:

The first Predator and Alien movie didnt cost 40 million right? Lets hope AVP2 goes back to the roots of the franchise. A nobel Predator and Aliens that just kill everything in sight ... I do NOT want a Predator - Human teamup. That absolutely sucked in AVP :(

If there creating the effects without too much CGI then 40 million is still a nice sum of money for a movie :word:

Can you quote the post where he said "a week or so" or tell me where it is? I'm over there looking for it...

They should of went all out on this film. Should of gotten Weaver to relive her role as Ripley.. I would of loved to see Ripley put in the line of fire with aliens and predator. They could of played off her deaths in alien's series..

If I remember correctly, Weaver didn't want to have anything to do with AvP.

As cool as that would be, Weaver always said that the entire "Alien vs. Predator" concept was really cheesy in her eyes. She famously wanted to get killed off circa Alien 3 just so she could avoid being asked to be in an AVP film.

Has Schwarzenegger made the same comments?

Exactly. That's what I hated most about the movie.
