If the Alien could inseminate any fictional character, I'd have it be the Thing. I just want to see how massively screwed up both creatures would become from the merger. I mean, c'mon...you've got one alien that takes traits from the host, and another alien that can take over a person entirely just by contacting a handful of cells. The levels of mayhem they'd produced combined into one being would top Tetsuo's rampage at the end of Akira for "Most Insane Transformation."

saw the movie today, not bad but i was wondering if you guys know if there going to make a third one?

They claim it'll be in space. At the end of the day, it's Davis and Rothman who have the final word. Not to bring your spirits down, but Davis wants these films to be on Earth and Rothman thought Salerno's script was fantastic. So I wouldn't have too many bets riding on the "AVP3 in space" claim being made, as they can easily replace the Brothers Strause.

No respected filmmaker will want to touch a third installation to a franchise which has been received pretty poorly both commercially and critically. The people who are hoping for a half decent AVP flick are delusional at this point, it might have had a chance when the franchise was first being made but they handed their precious franchise to Anderson.

Let's not forget that these characters belong to FOX and they almost always screw things up. But, one can always hope for an AVP film that is set in space, which would improve the situation a bit more if they do plan on making a third one...

I would hope that they don't, they did a much better job than Paul Anderson. The story that Anderson had was great but he just didn't execute it in the best way. He probably would've just been better off directing an Alien movie. Either way it goes, I don't think the Strause brothers will be replaced since many people feel that decency was brought into this franchise but the third one needs to be the best one. That means a top notch story and some stop notch action that can top what we saw in Requiem.

Do you really think that's gonna happen? The reason why they have the Brothers Strause along is because they're self-proclaimed fans and the SFX are cheap with Hydraulx. There's nothing that says they have to give them the creative power to write their own script or even compose their own fights. Fox has everything to win from another cheaply made AVP film, and we have everything to lose. The clincher? People will still see another film where it's on Earth, so our opinions matter little in the long run.

bros strause need to come up with stories and have someone else write them, ala george lucas and the indiana jones movies. they have good ideas, but cant translate dialog well to page i think. its kinda like big budget fan fic.

Truth be told, Anderson did do a few things better than the BS. Namely, he had better Alien designs, a marginally better script, and better character development.

That's true, he pulled off the Aliens pretty well and he had a good script but he didn't execute it on film very well. He focused too much on the aliens and didn't bother to put in a lot of work on the Predators. Hell, without the mask on, the only Predator I can stand to look at is the elder. Scar, on the other hand, didn't look scary enough and the Predator's looked too bulky. It's not like it was muscle, it was just too much damn armor. I know that Anderson got some things right in AVP but in AVP:R, the Strause brothers got a hell of a lot more right.

Saw AvP:R again a few nights ago. Still really enjoyed the film.
If they make a third...i'd only be happy if it took place on a space station.

However...if they make another Alien flick...it would need to take place on an alien world. No more space ones.

I want to see an Alien movie where the outspread of aliens increases rapidly on Earth and it's just a war between the aliens and humans.

thatd be cool, but youd need a real good director to give it an epic quality... if theres millions of aliens and millions of humans... get like Zack Snyder or something, he knows epic

Yeah, we'd need a good director and we'd need someone who can write a good story that tells how the aliens got to Earth and were able to reproduce that much.

On a sidenote, anyone else feel that we really deserve some more Predator movies by now? I know I'm only 14 but if I were to go into the filmmaking industry, I'd like to write a script for a Predator 3 if it's not made by the time I get older and get into the suit as well.

lol not a zack snyder fan i take it.
ummm they should give a 25million dollar budget to PREDATOR 3 (if they can make AVP-R for 40mill they can make a single pred-flick for 25mil, i mean pred3 would make that much its first weekend)... make it real dark and violent...

what if HR giger wrote ALIEN5?

so all that crap they showed with the goverment finding the weapon is for nothing i guess

Well, no. That's how the third film will lead into space...by the aquisition of pred technology.

Yeah, that's true. He had more money to work with. But he did do some very amatuerish things too. The Predator designs suffered, where AVP-R much improved that. And AVP had too much child like action..I mean, running away from a fire ball in slo-mo?! The BS at least realized that these are monsters, and they need to be more scary and less adventure.
Each have different flaws and strengths.
I have an easier time watching AVP-R, but granted it isn't by a giant margin.

Saw this tonight and was expecting a disaster, but i enjoyed it a hell of a lot, its much better than Andersons effort IMO, ONE fight from AvP:R is better than all of the ones in AVP, not surprised why the critics hated it though, it was basically a fanboy movie.

Is it a good movie? No, is it fun, hell yes. 6/10 for me.

For what AVP:R is,I thought it was pretty good. It looks much better on dvd,the first AVP felt cheesie, had the dumb Predator/human team up and totally lacked gore when it came to humans on screen thanks to the PG-13 rating. I didn't care about the humans in AVP:R,for me they just needed to make mistakes and get themselves killed and their butts kicked. I thought the ending was disappointing a bit, everyone on the helicopter should have died. AVP:R felt like the AVP videogame too,and I really liked that feeling. Let's hope the fight between the Yautja and Alien race can be in space if there is another AVP movie announced. John Davis must let the sequel be in space if there is one,I don't think Rothman should be a problem by stopping it from happening.

I'm no professional movie critic, but I damn well know what I want and like when it comes to movies. I have been a fan of the Alien and Yautja race for many years,I really never cared about humans in their movies.
