The Predalien was pretty cool. I didnt like the fact there was only 1 predator and it looked really feminine.

Wha?? I liked the fact that there was 1 Pred and....femenine?? Seemed pretty macho to me.

The 1 Pred thing didn't bother me at all. I mean, there was only 1 Pred in the original "Predator", and nobody complained. I think we just got spoiled by AVP. :woot:

And "feminine"? I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about - the AVP:R Pred was the baddest Pred in any of the movies.

Of course, if you're the type who only dates a certain type of a$$kickin' woman, then maybe your comment makes more sense. :oldrazz:

Well, I just rented avp-r because I wanted to give it another look, but after seeing it for the second time I have come to the same conclusions. The story I actually think is pretty good on paper, but it didn't translate to the big screen very well. The human charters were not intersting, no one stood out, so you didn't care when they were killed. The Predalien was a cool idea but I didn't care for thedesign to much. The regualr Aliens haven't looked decent since Alien 3. My favorite alien design was from Aliens. On the other hand, the Predator was much improved over the first avp. He had the slimmer look of the orignal, had some pretty cool weapons (old and new) and the way he "moved" was good. As for when he takes off his mask, I think the Predator still looks dumb. His face dousen't look anything like either of the orignal Predator films. My biggest problem is with his maniblaes. They made them to wide and long. When his madbles were closed they didn't cover the center of his mouth correctly. The film was rushed, especcialy the first 20 minutes or so. Overall It just wasn't a very good movie in my opionion. What really bothers me is that the fans of the these two frachisies accept that these avp movies are going to be average or worse. It's like they say "yeah i know it will probably be a piece of crap, but I accept it and go see and support it anyway. That's the hole problem with the sc-fi/ horror genre in general. Movie companys know that they can put a subpar film, and people will still go and see it. Well I'm making a stand, from now on at least as far as Aliens And Predator movies go, I am not seening them unless at least two things are done. 1. They MUST get Stan Winston Studios back on as creature a special effects design. 2. I would like either James Cameron or John Mcterinan to direct. Oh yeah, it would be nice to have an good all star cast to pump up emotion.

3. put it in space, and you have the PERFECT AVP flick

Do you mean on an alien planet, or on a space station? I think part of the reason why it's easier to set it on Earth is because it makes the involvement of humans more "believable" and also helps keep the budget under control. I think part of the reason why the series has been "successful" is that because they're relatively cheap to put out.

I saw the unrated DVD version, and I admit, I liked this film. Of course, I also thought the first one wasn't as bad as everyone says either. I'm not expecting anything as good a quality as Predator or Alien/Aliens, but it kept me entertained enough.

id prefer either a space station or a space ship, to keep a really great sense of claustrophobia and being trapped yknow? that was a problem w/AVP-R was it was too open and there was no sense of claustrophobia to it imo. even AVP1 has the claustro-effect.

i liked AVP-R for what it was, i just finished watching it a couple hours ago with a couple of my nearest and dearest, and its fun... but not perfect... though like you, i was entertained

Well, best of luck to you with those demands. I just watched it and I came to the same conclusion I initially had too. Is it a great film?..no. But it is a better Alien vs Predator movie than the first AVP, certainly.
Granted, the budget, cast and acting was lackluster in Requiem..admittedly AVP had a better cast. I'll even say that I preferred the design of the Warrior Alien in AVP...which I actually think is the best that the Aliens have ever looked. Conversely AVP really did an injustice to the Predator and AVP-R more than corrected that mis-step. The Wolf was a much improved design. And Kevin Peter Hall will always be the Predator, but this Ian White guy would have made Kevin proud with his portrayal. It was a real tribute, and I hope they continue to bring Ian back in future films. And the Pred-Alien Queen is really cool too. A great innovation for this film. It also seems we have an answer on the throat gestation by this queen in the special features on the DVD. It's basically a reproductive function of a young queen until she can develop a hive that will protect her while she makes an eggsack..I'll buy it!
Bottom line, it has Alien and Pred action that beats the last one. My rankings still remain the same.

Alien
Aliens
Predator
Alien 3
Predator 2
AVP-R
AVP
Ressurection

FYI..Best Buy has the Special Edition for $22.99 and it comes with an AVP comic. The cover under the cardboard slipcase is really pretty badass looking....Somone post a pic of that.

why is predator 2 low on every1s list?
am i the only one who thinks PRED2 is the best of the 2 preds and better than both AVPs?

I'd say Predator 2 and AvP:R are on the same level. It's definitely better than AvP, that's for damn sure.

You're not. Predator 2 is awesome.

It's miles ahead of both AVP movies.

This movie is borderline unwatchable.

Horrible characters and dialogue.
Incomprehensible actions scenes with shoddy editing and no geography.
No lighting. Seriously, it makes Tim Burton's work look like Speed Racer.
Laughable military sub-plot and "twist" ending.

Just boring, boring, boring. No effort went into making it and it is very obvious.

Predator 2 is okay. The AVP films can't change the cheese in that movie. Still, for all of the bad in that sequel there isn't anything that compares to the crud in these last two films.

I can get on board with that. They don't have the same strengths or weaknesses, but if you stack up the good vs the bad of each movie they come up weighing about the same on the scale to me.

im glad im finally seeing some love for PREDATOR 2... wish it did better, we need PREDATOR 3 a-s-a-p

I am the biggest supporter I know of for Predator 2!
My story idea for Predator 3 was that it would take place in the future...a utopian like society on Earth years ahead of our time...similar to the society set up in Demolition Man Aeon Flux or Rollerball. A society without violence...hence...no hunting ground...instead...the Predator or Predators...who have returned to face one of their greatest and most complex challenges (HUMANS) have found themselves in the middle of an uprising, a revolution on the brink...so, do they help disturb the peace and accidentally instigate a full scale coup? A realization and threat so alarming to both the appointed rulers and revolutionary leaders...it causes them to unite, then clash...and fight back. The weapons and technology in this future are up to par with The Predator technology...similar to the video game Concrete Jungle...where they reverse engineered Predator technology...so...humans use infared and night vision, high powered weapons and cloaking armor!
NOW THATS WHAT I CALL A PREDATOR 3! STOP THE AVP ********!

Thank you dude...oh and its just Predator no Aliens. And my frustration is that Aliens...they've had enough movies...a Predator 3 should be the next logical step after AVP2. But...they seemed to have F'd it up with two very mediocre incantations of what Alien and Predator movies...used to be about. We're not just a bunch of 80's Sci-Fi geeks who would be satisfied with the notion of joining the two franchises together in one movie (based on the comics of course). No, we do actually care about good acting and good stories...which I think the first 2 Predator movies did well, and the first 3 Alien movies did too. But I'm more of a Predator fan than Aliens...the moment you enter a first person infared heat vision view of the Predator...your heart starts to pound...and those movies were scary as hell.

i view AVP as a seprate franchise... no effect on the ALIEN or PREDATOR films... like some people will say there are 6 alien flicks and 4 predators (counting the avp's) i say 4 aliens, 2 predators and 2 avp's... so yeah in a perfect world it would go Predator 3, Alien5, and then AVP In space imo

hahaha
I so agree. the biggest problem of this movie imo was the lighting.

by the way...I always loved Predator 2. I don't see why so many dislike it. it was different from the first, instead of just more of the same.

to be fair, william gibson's ORIGINAL Alien3 script was awesome... its the rewrites by other writers that sucked.

Ive never seen alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection. I recently saw Aliens, which blew me away.

Alien is one of the foremost horror films. Aliens is the pinnacle sci-fi film. Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are the attempts to do good by both. Personally, I think Resurrection was successful at that only because it took a sardonic look at Cameron's formula.
