Yes, Flash went from a 0.3/1.15 million viewers in the prelims to a 0.2/0.78 million in the finals. It was preempted in New York.

Ahhhh....no wonder.

So three weeks after SDCC and reruns of Supergirl are still getting over 1 million viewers. Just like they were before the SDCC. While Flash, Arrow, and LoT summer reruns still are at around 0.7 million viewers.

It will be interesting to see the premiere without Superman and how that compares to last season...

It will be much lower, I'm sure. But still good for CW.

It wasn't anywhere near where I thought it would be....I was thinking a 1.3...to barely hit 1.0 was a little shocking to me. I have a feeling it could possibly hit that again for the premiere....not hang around there, but hit it at least once.

It has had a nice little gain in viewership over the Summer in reruns, whereas the other shows did not. It would be nice if some of those new viewers stuck around. IF THEY, OF COURSE, are new viewers. I know I have seen quite a few on twitter watching the show for the first time....so will be interesting to see.

It is a little curious that Supergirl has a somewhat bigger audience this summer than the Flash. Considering Supergirl is going up against new episodes of shows like The Bachelorette, American Ninja Warrior, and So You Think You Can Dance.
While the only new show Flash has to contend with is America’s Got Talent and reruns of NCIS and The Middle. Supergirl is on a tougher night in general which is why Supergirl tends to get lower ratings than Flash during the fall and spring,
but there is a tendency to ignore that. For example, Flash rarely gets pre-empted by football or other sports. Just about every time Supergirl took a dip in the ratings, it was sports, not Mon-El or Sanvers, or what-ever reason some people
on the internet that look at Supergirl in a vacuum thought it was.

I just don't think the show has that number in them on the CW again. Barely any show does. The only reason it got a 1.1 in last season's premiere was the curiosity factor, imo. The CW move plus Superman had a lot of people checking it out to see what this new version of the show would even look like. It doesn't have any of that going for it this time. This time it's just another basic season premiere. It averaged about a .7 last season, dipping down to .5 a few times and ending on .6, so the highest I'd expect this premiere boost to get would be a .8 or so. But even that sounds like a bit of stretch to me.

Soft start for Supergirl, pulling a 0.5 preliminary rating for the premiere.

not that it really matters this season; all four Arrowverse shows are getting renewed.

The ratings are sad but I'll let the network worry about that. And I agree it's getting a 4th season. And the 5th season is too far away for me to worry about.

I think it's the kind of show people binge watch on Netflix, so the live rating probably don't really reflect how many people watch the show in general.

No, but:
-Ever since announcing their Netflix partnership, 100% of the shows that reach the 30 episode mark have been drawn out to a MINIMUM of 70 episodes. After this season, Supergirl will have 64 and Legends of Tomorrow will have 51. So both will need at least one more season to hit 70.

-Arrow already has a syndication deal with TNT, plus they have the same Netflix deal. The main cast signed seven season contracts before the series started, so there is essentially zero chance that Arrow gets cancelled before the end of season 7.

-The Flash is the most successful show in the history of the CW by a large margin. Like Arrow, everyone is signed for 7 seasons. This show is going to go for at least that long.

And while we're on the subject, the same applies to iZombie. It will need a minimum of one more season to hit 70 episodes, and it will get it.

Preliminary number is a 0.524, so there's a small chance it adjusts up

I think it might....BUT, it had to have gotten hit hard in the New York and the Northeast markets as a whole with the Yankees vs. Indians game last night.

Edit: Went up a smidge in viewers, but stayed at 0.5.

No surprise that the rating was lower. Despite the stiff competition, I've said it before that starting the 3rd season with a dark Supergirl was not a good idea.

Well, maybe the Yankees won't play on Monday next week. I think the ratings will be fine between that and Big Bang going back to Thursdays.

Fingers crossed. It appears that they've lost some male viewers so I hope they return next week.

I assume there’s a “lag effect” to ratings. I.e., the latest rating isn’t necessarily an instant verdict on the latest episode; rather, it’s based on aggregate prior impressions.

Also - the degree to which Supergirl has turned dark and broody is a bit of overstatement. Sure, Kara was a tad depressed and disillusioned. But by the end of the episode, she had rescinded her resignation and had joined the gang at the pub. So in terms of "darkness," still a fair distance from (say) the Jessica Jones level. :word:

Flash returned to a 1.0. Double Supergirl's return but three tenths lower than last season. Still, solid result for CW.

Legends of Tomorrow actually matched its 2016 premiere with a 0.6.

On the whole, CW Tuesday (1.0/0.6) doubled up CW Monday (0.5/0.3).

Now we just have to wait and see how Arrow does in its new Thursday slot.

Flash adjusted up to 1.1....

I think "Lucifer" may be giving it a run for its money....

I think it's likely Lucifer is a worse opponent for SG than Gotham is. Lucy and SG seems to have more of an overlap. It's nothing major, though.
