Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!!

They will streamline it for sure....which can happen simply by better planning especially to get it down to an 8 day shoot rather than the 11 day shoots of the 1st season .

I assume you're talking about getting an episode totally finished (including post-production) in 8 days, because they were already "shooting" episodes in 8 days (although it took longer to do the post-production).

I'd hate to see the big guy go, but think of how much money the producers could save if they dropped blurry/just off in the distance/"Oh shoot-you just missed him!" Superman from the lineup. He doesn't work cheap.

In all seriousness, I like (most of) the characters on the show more than I did the villains of the week, which imo were often poorly designed. And the scenes in which she took on real world problems - stopping the bank heist, preventing a vehicular accident, flying a car to safety, putting a stop to bullying, and especially foiling the robbery whilst depowered - were the ones I remember most fondly. Budget cuts that bring Kara closer to the street level may not be the worst thing for the show.

I certainly don't think they need a villain of the week, I think a villain that goes through the entire season, much better written than Astra and Non would be great, along with what you just described above.

Variety and Hollywood Reporter are among the sources I trust the most, along with Showbuzz Daily and TV By The Numbers.

Supergirl is a freshman show for CBS and hasn't been renewed along with the other CBS freshman shows. The May 18 Upfronts is the place where they will announce their renewals for Fall and Fall schedule.

With these latest rumors and reports out there, it is clear that the haters either want Supergirl be moved to CW to be with Flash, Arrow, and Legends or have it be cancelled altogether.

Why would CBS renew Supergirl and then move it to CW just to have its budget cuts?

All of this stems from one actor"s comments and The Wrap. All other sources are simply repeating what they say. Variety and TV By The Numbers has not put this info out there....which tells me that that is not what they are hearing from their sources, which are good sources.

I think that CBS was WB to cut their distribution cost, and they very well may get it cut some which is what they are negotiating about. It is simply a stare off between CBS and WB and one will blink before May 18th....so all of this craziness on Facebook and Twitter is just that........crazy. These types of negotiations go on all the time, with all shows....probably going on right now with Criminal Minds and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders between CBS and ABC.....we just don't know and hear about those.

As the Grim Reaper has said, studios do not cancel their #1 new Drama that averages right along with their other dramas in its Freshmen year. So, I'm going to chill, have a drink.....and enjoy the rest of my evening. :)

I think they definitely need to bring it to the CW and have the Crisis storyline happen. Merging Supergirl and Flash/Arrow Earths, getting rid of Martian Manhunter(too expensive), Felicity on Arrow(too annoying), bringing back Black Canary for Oliver. Then they can have the big budget episodes be the crossovers.

The main storyline villain could be Cadmus like they were alluding to this season, with various experiments showing up, and some take her powers, some she has to save, yada yada, not so many flying Kryptonians epic showdown battles.

It shocks me that anyone thinks moving to CW is a good move.

Sounds like someone up their has their own story line they want, and be damned about anyone else, or what is best.....lol

I don't think moving it to CW is a good move, BUT if moving the filming to Vancouver to help in cutting some of the cost, then that is fine with me.

Bottom line though is this....if they do what they need to do to keep it on the air...then go for it. :)

It would be a top performer on CW. It probably wouldn't out rate Flash but if it landed somewhere in between Flash and Arrow over there it would be renewed indefinitely.

If it falls much farther next season it'll be a tough sell for season 3 on CBS.

Moving to CW would be good for the show's longevity even if it would be bad for its overall exposure.

Can't stand CBS, they have the most watched superhero show on TV and their complaining that they want more. They barely promote it, they pitted it up against powerhouses like dwts and the voice, they put it at the same time as Gotham, splitting it's key viewership in half, and still this show thrived and gained a huge loyal following. I guess if a show doesn't have a CSI or ncis in front of it CBS can't make it work

This might be one of those rare shows that looks "cheaper" come season 2. That would be unfortunate and hurt things imo.

Might look cheaper? I'd say that's a guarantee.

I like the show well enough but I really wish that it's start wouldn't have been so rough and the villains still stink. CBS is not the type of network that keeps on low rated shows for long so although I see it getting a shorter second season I don't see it getting a third, at least not on CBS.

If Supergirl's second season is to be shortened, I hope it is 13 episodes as it was originally meant to be. 22 would mean filler.

If it looks substantially cheaper, they are going to lose viewers at a higher rate. One of the nice things about the show, is while it had some cheesy looking stuff, the show looks like it cost a good bit.

Do they have any shows that run only 13 episodes that aren't cancelled? Genuine question, as I have no idea.

I agree the show looks good and it will be a major bummer if it looks much, much cheaper during season 2.

It's not really like that....they were promised a tax break from the State of California that just didn't not go through...so they are looking for other ways to cut cost, and hopefully keep the series. Moving to Vancouver would be one of those ways, and it doesn't automatically mean that it is going to the CW.

Very intested analysis and unfortunately, bad news for the show

I am now getting complaints about this never ending death of a show beating drum. If you are a fan of the show, then prove it by actually discussing the show, not every post being "its down for the count" it is annoying other members here and IS turning into trolling and will be dealt with accordingly.

I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, I always do, but you are making it very hard, and please do not fall back on its your opinion.....it is an opinion rolled up in spam and trolling, and is leading to complaints from our members. People want to come here and enjoy their time, this has been a very positive forum in the midst of craziness and we would like to keep it that way as much as possible....if the show is canceled come May 18th, then you can come in and do the whole...."I told you so....." bur for now, stop with the drive by posts that is your opinion wrapped in spam and troll bait. No discussion on this, just stop....If you just have to be upset and talk about it constantly, then go to all of the articles you have been posting and cry in their comment sections.

Do we know if season 2 would allow them to reapply for those tax breaks, or has that ship sailed?

sorry, but what should we talk about?
of season two? the development of the characters? enemies of next season? I agree, but maybe you have not realized that PROBABLY THERE WILL NOT BE A SECOND SEASON.
I'm not a troll, trust me, but let's talk about some news.
1. for CBS the show is too expensive
2. The CW is smaller than CBS, so is also too expensive for them
3. Some actors of the show (Calista? Chyler?) Do not want to go to Vancouver
4. Upfronts is in 10 days, but the show are stille renewed yet, also the show not officially announced yet

Find me a good thing in these news, I swear I'm a fan, and if you can calm me send you a virtual hug.

The good news? Both CBS and WB are interested in getting a deal done. This type of back and forth in the press happens all the time when two greedy multi-billion dollar corporations are trying to squeeze each other for a few million here or there. But CBS wants the younger viewers and WB wants at least one beloved Kryptonian in the public eye. I'd be more concerned if there were silence.

If we end up with a show in which Kara spends less time fighting poorly garbed alien combatants and more time interacting with the public, I'd be satisfied.
