Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!!

Glad to see Supergirl held steady from last week.

Me too, I was hoping she would adjust up, but glad she didn't go down again. I think that this is going to be the trend, episodes that don't have a hook, a cross-over, guest director like Kevin Smith, Superman, Lynda Carter,
are just going to get lower ratings. The Flash musical cross-over should give her an uptick. Maybe when Teri Hatcher guest stars there will also be an uptick.

Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are steady in the prelims versus last week; 1.1 and 0.7, respectively.

Arrow narrowly avoided its first ever 0.5, coming in with a low 0.6.

Legion premiered to a 0.7 rating on FX, which is pretty solid but not spectacular. It premiered higher than any of the other freshman shows on the network so far this year, but it's not as good as AHS does on a typical night. As long as it doesn't totally crater this puts it on a path to renewal.

Legion was great, though it definitely targets a narrower audience than these other comicbook shows.

Would Legion's short season effect its renewal chances? Or is it too early and too unspecific to tell?

Maybe, the thing is...premieres are usually the top 2 maybe 3 episodes of a series, being on a smaller network will of course help, if it stays above .5 or so, and a shorter season requires less in budget, then it is probably fine.

Cable networks are starting to make a habit of ordering a short first season, and if it's successful they order larger second seasons. Preacher and Into the Bandlands got that treatment on AMC.

Not to mention The Walking Dead, and that show's first season only had six episodes.

As for ratings, it seems to have done decently so far, given its 10 pm time slot:

FX’s series premiere of “Legion” followed closely behind in the second spot with a 0.7, and 1.622 million viewers. That’s pretty well in line with the premiere of “Taboo” (0.6, 1.84 million) last month.

Not earth-shattering, but I doubt this would've done amazingly. And it's got good word of mouth, so it'll have some legs.

DC/Marvel scoreboard this week

The Flash - 1.1
Powerless - 0.8
Supergirl - 0.7
Agents of SHIELD - 0.7
Legends of Tomorrow - 0.7
Legion - 0.7
Arrow - 0.6

Truly awful for Powerless. It's dead. Down three tenths from its premiere, and both its lead-in and lead-out beat it by three tenths.

SHIELD up slightly but still losing to Flash and barely hanging in there with cable and CW shows.

All the other shows were flat

iZombie returns on April 4
Gotham and Lucifer are on break until May
Preacher should be back in May sometime but AMC hasn't announced anything yet

Live+Same Day to Live+7 Days increase for Supergirl January 23rd episode.
0.8/2.652 million ... 1.3/4.132 million.
Increase 62.5%/55.8%

Niiiiiiiiiiice...... :)

Then Flash must have done fantastic as well, that's good......the more fantastic ratings the better. :)

For the other comic books based show for the week of January 23-29 18-49 demo/millions of viewers:

Live+Same day to Live+7 increase
The Flash
1.0/2.721 to 1.8/4.636
80%/70%

Arrow
0.6/1.682 to 1.1/2.815
83%/67%

DC's Legends of Tomorrow
0.6/1.805 to ?/2.491
?/63%

Riverdale
0.5/1.378 to 0.9/2.383
80%/73%

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
0.6/2.002 to 1.4/3.974
133%/99%

Don't know what DC's Legends of Tomorrow increase was in the 18-49 demo

Probably around .9 to 1.0

Flash got a really nice bump.

With Marvel's Agents of SHIELD getting a 133% increase I guess that means people want to watch it, they just don't want to stay up until 11:00 pm to see the end of the episode.
Not sure why it is on that late unless ABC is just burning it off and it won't get renewed.

Or the censors made them move it to a later time.

Early ratings for last night's episode

0.8/2.50 million viewers. A 16%/3% increase from last week.

Unrounded scoreboard from last week (change vs the week before)
The Flash: 1.10 (+0.92%)
Powerless: 0.82 (-24.07%)
Legion: 0.69
Supergirl: 0.69 (-1.43%)
Agents of SHIELD: 0.69 (+13.11%)
Legends of Tomorrow: 0.67 (0%)
Arrow: 0.56 (-9.68%)

Hopefully Supergirl being up to 0.8 this week is a trend for the other CW shows. Arrow could use the boost.

I just noticed that Arrow and Flash's viewers started to go down at the same time last season, after episode 15. Neither have managed to recover the type of numbers they were getting before then.

Not just those two, that happened across the board all networks....and you are correct, no one has recovered.

Daylight savings.

It's pretty good news for all fans of the show. I mean, I don't figure there's much of a point to a ratings thread for Supergirl this season, but there have you.

I am starting to doubt if the original consensus that "Supergirl and Gotham don't hurt each others' ratings" is really correct. I begin to think there is a substantial overlap. It's a shame. #EndToNetworkWars

Supergirl is the only show of the 4 that is an original run this week. The other three will be back next week.

I turned on CW last night and received an awful surprise: some stupid reality show about mud instead of Flash. Being single this year, I didn't remember about Valentine's Day.
