It's past the 2000s, and we still can't have a serious Lex Luthor in any movie. I get why he was goofy in the Pre-Crisis era movies, because business man Lex wasn't a thing yet, but there's no excuse anymore for psycho/eccentric Lex in the films. Superman Returns never should have continued from those movies to begin with. Smallville Lex is still the best non-animted Lex we'll get, but clearly anything that works in the live shows won't be used in the films...
