He mentioned one role that he regrets not signing on for, but didn't specify. He was Nolan's first choice to play Joker before Heath got the role...

thats what i took from the interview too.

is it crazy to think that he's possibly hinting at playing Joker? I'm sure leto is being considered, but Phoenix would be just as good. i think there are other options WB is considering besides Leto, and Phoenix is so obviously perfect for something like this.

:mrk:

They got the right movie???? OMGOMGOMG

Finally!
(altrough it is not really that important)

Oh my days... that looks AMAZING. :hrt:

Snyder has waited years to get his hands on Batman and he is going to knock it out of the park.

:hehe: I said the same thing in the News/Photos Thread. It's weird to be excited about a detail like that, but as Batman it's really exciting. They FINALLY got it right. :hrt::woot:

Did you see Joaquin's comments on the genre recently? Dude knows his ****

he's going to pop up in a CBM eventually, it looks like he's probably interested in a Batman movie

Joker Leto isn't a done deal, there's a small chance that the role could go to Phoenix...

Here, Phoenix name drops Arkham Asylum and Frank Miller's Batman work. Very interesting

If not Joker than maybe Riddler?

I'm already seeing some "Hurrr, they're doing teh Death of teh Waynes AGAIN!"

Because God knows they totally, TOTALLY shouldn't show the KEY moment of Batman's origin story in a movie starring a new iteration of the character. Nevermind that it'll probably amount to a few minutes of flashback AT MOST, they just shouldn't do it. We already saw it a movie that'll be 11 years old by the time this comes out, so **** it. :whatever:

Damn Snyder if he does, damn Snyder if he doesn't.

It definitely sounds like Phoenix was approached for The Joker.

I'm all aboard the Joketo train, but if Phoenix was in the running too? Damn. That'd be something.

Ive been saying this for months. Joaquin Phoenix for the Joker. That was my first choice. Still is. I've said that Joaquin would probably play the Joker if it was a one-off role. Now, im not sure if he would do this version of the Joker, or this version of Lex Luthor, because it's a pretty long ride. It's 3 films usually. And who knows, maybe he's not a fan of Zack Snyder. There are plenty of actors who i assume don't want to work with Zack because he's known for a lot of CG, green screen, special effects driving a project without much substance. Bale passed on his war film with Sean Penn. So Joaquin may have passed on Lex for that reason. Im just speculating.

But i would love for him to play the Joker. I dont think it's gonna happen though. Leto seems open to this kind of thing.

Flashback scene with the death of the Waynes? Meh.
Opening credits (a la Watchmen) with the death of the Waynes and other stuff? **** yeah.

I think it needs to happen when it's a new director doing something new. We saw it in Batman, Batman Forever, Batman Begins and now Batman v Superman. As long as it's a very brief scene/flashback then move on. Plus when Burton did it, it was Zorro wasn't it? With the whole Napier angle. Nolan did it with the opera and specifically Joe Chill. Now Snyder will do it with Excalibur, probably with an unknown man killing his parents (whether that's Joe Chill or not).

i totally support Maclaren!!! She's done Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad episodes, that's enough for me

phoenix would be the clear choice if he were open to doing sequels

sadly that isn't the case.
