I agree Cooper isn't any better than those actors, that still doesn't mean that he is interested in Green Lantern. Green Lantern isn't the only comicbook character left to play. It's not Green Lantern or nothing. Also I do like John Stewart as Green Lantern.

Oh, definitely! I'm totally with you on that one, and as I said it's likely a moot point, with Cooper being unlikely to take a DC role anyway.

I suspect, really, if Cooper takes a role, it will be doing double duty for Marvel, like with the Steve Trevor role. Or maybe Adam Warlock?

Cooper's career is so scorching hot it wouldn't surprise me if he left his CBM participation at the voice actor level and didn't sign on to play any superhero, Marvel or DC, in a full live action role.

Yup Green Lantern is not popular as Superman or Batman. but people recoganize him. Thats why that pathetic movie made $200 mn. So what if he is interested in the NEW GL of THE ZNYDER??:whatever:

Actually is there any rumour that he is interested in it other than the fan casting??
It's mildly difficult to decipher this post.

Yeah I think most likely with Marvel and maybe not even a lead role.

What I intended to post was "GL is popular (not as batman or supes) that is why the Green Lantern 2011 movie made $200 million eventhough it was a piece of ****. If GL was an unknown superhero it would have made only $100 million or something in the range"

My guess is GL made what it made because of WB's marketing machine.

Yes I agree, I think GL did as "well" as it did because most of the time WB knows how to market blockbusters.

Reynolds was also riding high, career wise, when it came out. That helped too.

There has to be some inherent appeal to the concept to open to over $50 million, though. No studio can rely on marketing prowess alone to get every big budget film to open in that range. They wish they could.

I think a lot of the appeal was that GL was another comicbook movie after 2008 proved that the genre was here to stay and strong as all get out. Also Thor had been a hit a month before GL.

I'm not saying that the GL character had nothing to do with it but due to the toxic buzz I think that a more poorly marketed GL would have made less than 53million opening weekend. And I agree with Rapunzel that Reynolds buzz at the time probably did help the film as well.

The GL marketing campaign had a lot more quantity than quality.

Cooper is 3 time nominee. And two of those were gifts. Lawd.

He would be a great Hal, but I bet they tap Jake one last time and possibly Pine.

Reynolds looked like he was perfect for the role. Really, he did. Remember when he recited the Latern oath with a kid? At San Diego Comic-Con, I think? He seemed perfect.

They need a big, popular name if they go with Hal again. If they give it to a lesser-known actor there'll be a backlash to the casting news that they should have gone with John Stewart.

I'd prefer to see Jake G play a villain.

Cooper is one of the nominated producers of American Sniper so he actually has a total of 4 Oscar nominations.

Yes to Jakey. But l'm pretty sure there's a law that says all actors named Chris must work for Marvel :woot:

Edit: and what did you mean by that "gifts" comment, Sam?

Agreed. And WB seems to be having no trouble attracting proven quality talent instead of unknowns. So it'll happen.

The movie failed Ryan Reynolds (even though I do like it), he would have been a great Hal Jordan with a better script/right director.

I don't agree with that at all. Their casting at the moment is an interesting mix of A-list stars, prestige actors and lesser-known performers.
