There is less than 3 months left for BvS and we still don't have the official poster yet, come on WB.

It was the same with MOS. Like a month out we finally got one

I could be wrong doe

I know this is a BvS thread, but I am so curious to see how they pull off Aquaman's world, Wonder Woman's world, and Green Lantern's world within the context of the Universe they've already established. If they manage to bring together all of those elements successfully, not to mention Batman's Gotham, so that it all feels cohesive, and still stays true to the individuality and mythology of each character, it has all the potential to be one of the best cinematic series of all time, at least in my opinion.

I also hope that each movie manages to tell a complete story with it's own narrative and themes, but each one is a piece of the overall puzzle, and by the end of it, all the movies United together can be binge watched and tell a complete story.

I guess it's pretty ambitious, and it all comes down to balance. I hope the writers and directors of the movies all unite like the Justice League with a singular vision for the DCEU, but each one is given room to add their own unique style to their particular character. And I'm really feeling that's the case so far, from MoS and what little I've seen of SS and BvS.

2016, I will turn 30 years old, I've been a comic book fan since before I can remember. Batman '89 was the first movie my parents ever took me to with my older brother, as a kid I watched and read every single thing I could get my hands on with Batman and Superman (my two favorites from the beginning, I also loved Marvel Comics), so I feel like if I took my childhood wishes into account as well as my adult interests, BvS is probably the most anticipated movie of my life. I have never followed a movie almost daily online, months and months before it's release. And I gotta say, I'm really enjoying it!

Thanks, everybody at SHH for all the scoops and lively discussion! I have really enjoyed reading all of it, both the positive and the critical! Happy New Year!

Great post, and I relate to much of what you said! I've actually had a similar experience before with CRPGs in the past, i.e., being part of an online community eagerly awaiting a new game (NWN and NWN2 years ago, and more recently BGEE). But since really getting into CBMs headlong over the last two years this is the only film I have ever done this for. I'm a comic book fan since childhood and lifelong film buff. This is an utterly amazing Golden Age for the superhero film genre. I feel fortunate to be able to share an experience like this.

I agree with your sentiments about the DCEU, and I'm fairly confident that what you hope for is what we will get. Reportedly in the DCEU directors will have a bigger sandbox to play in, i.e., a pretty high degree of creative and stylistic freedom. It will ultimately all have to fit together, and various arcs and trajectories will have to be plotted and maintained. But I trust they'll do a good job with that.

I think each film--or in many cases the trilogy of films--is going to feel very different in terms of style. That's good. It'll help from drifting into a cookie-cutter thing is already a big risk for Marvel. And don't get me wrong, I love Marvel CBMs! But I always loved DC the most as a kid and I don't think that will ever change. So I'm hoping to see some truly amazing films with beloved characters in the years to come. I feel very good about what Snyder has shown us so far and I love 300, Watchmen, and MoS, so I will be flabbergasted if BvS doesn't deliver.

That would suck, i mean we've already got the posters for both Civil War and X-men Apocalypse but not BvS yet. :csad:

And i know everyone here (like me) is thirsty for some BvS news, so how's about some BvS cups. :awesome:

They have to be careful with that - Rigid continuity vs creative freedom...careful planning should take care of the issue though (easier said than done; look at Comics - they finally decided to let things go with DC You, focusing more on stories).

One thing I like about DCEU that each Main Leaguer has their own style and mythology(except Cyborg. He has a unique style but doesn't has the mythology to go with it) that they could have their own universe, and that fact they are going to bring these characters and have them inhabit the same universe makes it even more exciting. I hope they can pull it off.

Well I think its safe to say the DCEU should not be run like the comics
Directors should have more freedom than having their hand held all the time. They are using these characters to make a good movie first and foremost

If you control too much you are basically left with the situation Marvel has where the story group is pitched ideas and the directors have to craft those ideas.

True, but no risk, no reward! :woot:

no mega flop/bombs either.
I for one don't assume there are no pros and cons for both approaches.
This very year wb has both benefited and suffered for their director/creator freedom like approach to producing. From mad max/creed to jupiter and pan.

That brain trust approach marvel has seemingly ensures a minimum bar for failure(see RT scores) there is a consistency there given it's the same quality of producers making all the movies. And every so often a gem.
I think wb should learn from all of this and move forward with the best of both worlds. The WW situation seems to paint an interesting picture.

last thing you want when starting off this universe thing is a flop. Moderate hits as funny as they are can build novelty but flops...

The dude on reddit is saying Laura Mennell plays Martha Wayne. She plays Janey Slater, Dr. Manhattan's girlfriend in Watchmen. I have to say, it does look like her :

Yep. Those eyes and brows look more like Cohan.

Yeah, it does look like her too. Meh, we'll find out in a couple of months.

Pretty sure he went through past Synder films and picked an actress that looked like her

Maybe because Superman taking over
is a dream
, Batman's nightmare involves a future where he crossed the line?

Deep.

That person on Reddit is still answering questions..... and I honestly feel this person could well be legit; they're going into great detail about certain scenes in which I could see being true in the movie.

But as I said, I'm not 100% convinced this person is legit. I guess we'll find out in under 3 months.

I have no interest in reading or knowing what he's saying. What I don't understand is why would anyone want to know everything about a movie before they see it. That just takes away surprises and reduces the experience.

I'm kind of surprised that WB hasn't intervened yet.
