There would be nothing wrong with Javier Bardem under heavy makeup along the lines of Xerxes

How hard could it be? Makeup and prosthetics have come so far

It's not about it being hard. It's about the director's preference. And if they feel they can get the best performance from the best actor under a lot of makeup. And if the budget allows them to pay that actor and makeup artists for all of those additional hours on set.

That review was a lie, obviously. There's no way the entire Justice League is there for the final act, battling Doomsday. There's no way Batman is smiling from ear to ear when he beats down a criminal. Everything was super positive too, which gave it away.

i tend to agree. he signed an nda so can't say anything one way or another about his role. he's probably going to miss all this attention when the movie comes out and everyone finds out he IS just some pilot. in reality, he's probably just hoping his scene doesn't get cut from the film.

They need to go much bigger name for Green Lantern. They have relatively unknowns cast in Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg... Aquaman isn't the best known actor either. Ironic really, the one character that it doesn't really matter as much who plays him (the one in the mask) is the biggest star by far.

although are any of the avengers names beyond rdj? maybe moreso now that the marvel films have catapulted them into fame, but i dont think any of them were exactly a-listers before they were cast.

Yeah, I do think they'll go for a big name. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Pine first offered Hal Jordan? If so, it shows their intent at aiming for at least a recognizable name.

I really hope they do Darkseid like they did Xerxes. Makeup and prosthetics, with CGI to make him larger.

Sure, if you want to hamper the director and the actor playing the character and add a nice chunk of extra cost and time to the production due to constant make up retouching, actor discomfort, overheating and bathroom and lunch breaks, which require a crew of people to get the performer in and out of the suit and which will likely restrict the range of motion and expressivness of the performer... Yeah other than all that nonsense, there is no reason not to use techniques from 25 years ago for the purpose of appeasing fans that simply must have an iconoclastic opinion on the Internet while calling everybody else "clueless".

fair enough. i really had no idea who ruffalo was before the avengers, but i'm not exactly mr. hollywood, either. personally, i love unknowns in these roles as its easier for me to see them as the heroes they're playing, but so long as they get a good actor, known or unknown, i'm happy.
