Snyder on surprises left in the film.

Snyder on the Multiverse.

Well it's not like Snyder's gonna answer that question with, "yep, you have seen it all."

Yes and he also went on to say that he himself doesn't take liberties with the characters. Which is just a weird and inaccurate thing to say.

Well, Snyder is reinventing the character by bringing him into something more resembling the real world, that's true. I think what he may have been getting at is that the amalgam that he crafted maybe traces to canon sources for the fundamentals... Krypton gets some interesting spins in MoS as far as I can see, although I'll admit my knowledge of how Krypton has been treated in the comics is scant (I know nothing since the Silver Age, lol). Superman has killed before in the comics, though, as I'm sure you know.

The truth of the matter is practically every creator has left their own mark and liberties with Superman. Snyder is inaccurate that his Superman is of the canon because then the question becomes "which canon?" There are countless versions of Superman he could be talking about. That said, Reeve Superman echoed the pre crisis Superman who could basically do anything he wanted like manually change his visage, etc, whilst Cavill's Superman takes on more elements from Byrne, Birthright to name a few.

I'm glad that the TV and film continuities are separate. I have a feeling that the film universe will be complex enough! Trying to meld that with multiple weekly TV series? That would be a nightmare.

True, but I really believe we haven't seen everything. Not at all. And that some are just being very dramatic and overreacting by saying that we have seen everything blah blah.

I also believe we're in for some surprises. Trailers have misdirection as well. I doubt many people thought the "do you bleed" line was during the car/face to face scene. I thought it was during the bat signal scene

There will be plenty of surprises and tons of stuff we haven't seen. It's just people overreacting. That's the popular thing to do these days with trailers. "They showed too much!" It's funny how people say they showed too much but yet, haven't seen the movie. Just the trailer so how the hell would they know.

Well most trailers these days DO show too much, imo. Not just BvS.

Honestly, with the exception of Doomsday and the fact (that we all knew a long, long time ago) that Bats and Supes end up on the same side, I think everything we've seen is vague enough that there's still a great deal of mystery to the film.

We don't know whether BvS has shown too much until we have actually seen it.

Very much this. ^ That's what I would bet on anyway.

We don't even know for sure what the greatest lie in America is.

I'm don't subscribe to the "Automatically accept it because it happened in the comics" mentality.

Truth.

I guess the Darkseid of it all too, but it's not like we've actually seen the being himself, so I'll let that one slide.

We haven't seen Aquaman in action or what his role is. Same goes for WW her introduction into the film etc. Cyborg too if he has a cameo. Haven't really seen much at all honestly.

Deadpool is getting great reviews (twitter) by comic book fans and movie reviewers.

Really hope thats the buzz after BvS and SS...

What I think Snyder meant was that he went directly to the source material for inspiration. Whereas Donner's Superman had some weird form of time reversal, amnesia kiss, giant Cellophane!Hope of doom, repair vision, ect ect. Other than the origin, Zod, and the supporting cast not much was taken or adapted from the source material.

Snyder said it himself. He created MoS and the DCFU as if he found a box of comics under his bed and took those stories and put them in a contemporary world. From that point of view I think he stuck pretty close to the 'canon'. The only thing he really took liberities with was Krypton and even then the ground work for Krypton was already there in the source materials (clone wars, civil wars, ect). He just brought the weirdness to life by going deeper than any of the directors before him.

Sure, I can respect that opinion, definitely. I think, though, that Snyder was just making the point that perhaps the composite that he created may have roots in the canon (which as we know is diverse), whereas earlier films sometimes do not.

Snyder definitely went more indepth with capturing comic Superman than the Donner ones, but I think what made some people disregard MOS was not that Snyder was being "unfaithful" but that he went against the establish view on Superman people had. He played up more of the Science Fiction elements of the character that writers in the comics have long been doing and applying it to his film.

I don't subscribe to the "Automatically accept it because it happened in the comics" mentality.

Well then tell that to the people who are judging MOS on that basis.
