I loved the pilot and the 2nd episode.

Second episode is only marginally better than the first. Karl Urban starts to unclench his jaw a bit and thank god for that. Banter was ok, episodic plot was absolutely stupid: why couldn't they abduct homeless men (who would be less likely to be missed) rather than young attractive middle class women (which is basically putting up a neon sign that says POLICE LOOK HERE), or just steal human stem cells?

They were creating female sexbots and thus wanted the female skin and pheromones to make them more appealing to men.

Haven't read this entire thread (so sorry if this has already been discussed) I heard somewhere that Fox is airing a bunch of episodes out of order and that the episode that aired last night is actually like the 5th episode? If this is true, does anyone know why Fox (I'm assuming it's Fox's decision) is screwing with episode order? (do I need to be worried about feeling a case of Firefly deja-vu??)

That explains how Kennex went from not even knowing who Stahl was to being attracted to her and all tongue tied around her with zero development between the two.

His ex is played by a black actor and Gina is...you know...not black (or an actor, heh).

I only got a brief glimpse and the woman was frozen so looked devoid of colour in general.

finally caught both episodes tonight it was good. I'm impressed by CGI it's real eye candy. I'll be checking week after week for this one.

This show is probably the closest we will ever come to a live action version of Ghost in the Shell.

In fact, some of these elements and plots are not far removed from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence.

In Ghost in the Shell: Innocence they uncover an abduction ring in where they use living humans in order to harvest their "souls" to make better quality sex dolls.

I hope this show isn't canceled .../crossing-fingers, it had all I like for a TV show, it's science fiction, it has humor the two guys have a good chemistry and funny lines.
The Kennex name make me think of toys or game brand for no reason.

Edit : who was the black sexbot ? I know her from another show or movie but I can't put my finger and which.

I find it interesting how people can tell that Dorian is a robot just by looking at him. He doesn't look or act robotic to me at first glance or until you see the glowing markings on the side of his face.

It is rather derivative, but it does keep you entertained. It's sort of like what you would get if you put I, Robot, Alien Nation, Ghost in the Shell, and Bladerunner is a blender.

The visuals actually aren't bad for a TV show. Though it actually seems a little too futuristic for 2048. Maybe another 20 years.

I didn't watch the 2nd episode but I really enjoyed the first one.

I know many compare this to Alien Nation and Ghost in the Shell but it reminds me more of Bicentennial Man. That's not a knock either. I always thought the way Bicentennial Man not only surpasses robotic abilities but also uniquely human abilities was interesting.

Right now Dorian is like Blade, he has the strengths of robots but none of their weaknesses. It will be fun to see why exactly the reason why the Dorian model were discontinued as cops. Was it a problem the robots themselves, a problem with a society that wouldn't accept them, or maybe they were too independent to be cops?

I also like how Dorian gained Kennex's trust/respect in the pilot episode. I could've sworn that was going to take the entire season to play out and I was already getting tired of Kennex ignoring the noble aspects of his robotic partner because of his anger towards another robot. It's alot more fun to see these two become friends and toy with each other playfully. Though I do wonder how much playfulness on Dorian's part is genuine rather than a form of crafty manipulation.

Well his model was replaced by the new model so there had to be se period of time that a fleet of Dorians were running around. So they probably recognize the model.

Whenever I am watching this show I keep thinking of Asimov's robot novels and how I would love to see that series and the Foundation series on the screen.

So in the pilot, had he been doing "regular" police work between his incident and the pilot and was then transferred into being a detective again? It was rather confusing to be honest.
