Almost Human

Shame but Fox really screwed this show when they ran the episodes out of order.

I loved Space: Above and Beyond when I was a kid.

I still think that is an awesome show.

I feel for Karl Urban. I like that guy. I don't think he's done a bad thing yet that I've seen. Even the Doom movie was entertaining. If you look at it as just another space monster movie that is and not at all related to Doom. Hell, I even liked Priest and that was another bomb.

I thought the movie was based on Doom 3 which was kinda similar?

Doom 3 is basically just Doom rebooted with far better graphics.

I don't think Fox playing the episodes out of order really had no effect on the story telling. The episodes were very self contained and procedural, it was like Law & order in the future. In that respect I felt very let down by the show because I thought it would be more blade runner than what we got.

I loved the show. It had a great look and the main characters were interesting, fun and had great chemistry.

It's a shame.

Disappointing. Liked all the cast and characters, and the villain/ gadget / future thingy of the week was pretty cool to see.

I agree, I did not notice at all it was played out of order. Makes me think I watched it on a different channel if Fox did play them out of order because I have no clue and nothing seemed out of place to me..references to things that "did not happen".

I don't think that airing them out of order made a big difference, but there were some odd character traits based on what we'd seen prior. For instance, by the end of the pilot Kennex had come to appreciate Dorian's skillset and within a few episodes they were buddy-buddy with one another (the 2nd and 3rd episodes aired were meant to be in the middle of the season). Then, later on in the season we see Kennex mistrustful of androids (because it was meant to be aired earlier).

It wasn't anything that distracted from the individual plots too much, but it was weird to see Kennex revert to his demeanor from the pilot so late in the season.

There was an episode a few months back that featured android call girls. In the end, they had to be deactivated; and there was a scene where one (naively and poignantly) asked what the experience of non-existence would be like. The series might have fared better if it had focused on these sorts of existential/philosophical questions. Instead, it was mostly a conventional police procedural (except with robots).

Effing Fox. My wife and I were really loving this show. Agreed that it needed a bit more of the big questions and less of the procedure, but it was a great watch nonetheless.

If the show went too far into deeper meaning it might have been cancelled even quicker. They needed to build up to a more complicated story telling instead of throwing the audience in the deep in right off.

I think them airing them out of order made a big difference. Someone posted a while back the sequence and things were WAY out of order. IMO, things like the "the wall", "chroms" and the guy who created Dorian should have been aired earlier. The show felt like it had no real theme, but then the next episode would introduce something that seemed important, but then it wouldn't be mentioned again until several episodes later. Also Dorian and Kennex were at odds and didn't like each other then all that changed and their best buddies. Then another episode and now they are back at odds. And don't get me started on Kennex and the girlfriend. I don't even know what the deal was with that. Anyhoo, all that is not good.

Oh yeah. The order made a huge difference. The interaction between Dorian and Kennex was all over the place. One episode they'd be friends the next episode it was like they were still on the way to becoming friends. heh

One episode:

*Dorian trolls Kennex*
Kennex: Man I hate you robots. Screw you guys, I'm going home.

The Next Episode:

*Dorian trolls Kennex*
Kennex: Aww you silly goose.

Episode After That:

*Dorian trolls Kennex*
Kennex: Robots are stupid, and I hate them all. **** yo robot life, son!:cmad:

Then Another Episode:
*Dorian trolls Kennex*
Kennex: [YT]WpTDAow4XU8[/YT]

Karl Urban can't catch a damn break. F*** FOX. Who the f*** decided to air episodes out of order? You promote the hell out of the show during the World Series only to mutilate it once you air it? F***ing hell and a huge f*** you to the executive who's responsible.

This show will be forgotten about. :( It will just become an Urban legend.

I was just checking to see if this show was coming back this year.

Disappointed to see it's not.I'm tough to please, but I thought it had some potential.:csad:
