Alpha Protocol

Cool walkthrough. I like all the customization options.

This game appears to copy a lot of design elements from Mass Effect. It also seems of expand in some of the areas in which people felt ME was lacking such as more and visually represented customization, more environmental interaction, stealth mechanics, and melee combat.

On paper this game sounds great but watching it in motion deflates my interest in the game somewhat. It doesn't look horrible but it does look like it could use more "polish". The graphics are not very good, the animations seem very stiff, and the art design including the UI aren't very appealing IMO.

Hopefully reviews show the quality of this title to outweigh its short comings.

his facial reactions are a little more clearer here. and the game play came long away from that too as you'll see both and compare.

the one with the Conspiracy walkthrough which was just shown before that before safe house one was supposed to show before the Global Conspiracy one, but they delayed it. So I guess they are still polishing the game off. with the way it looks i hope it turns out good. As for Mass Effect I guess their main focus was making sure your squad was smart enough to keep up with you along with the enemies AI. other wise they would have ended up like "the rise of a Argonauts " game which to a degree looked almost like this and Mass effect with the dialog system and near look. but the AI allies weren't as helpful as they should be among other things. I'm hoping this game doesn't have the same pit falls. Cause it looks way too cool to fall into that.

Is your character absolutely male? It would've been nice to include an option to play as a female character. I guess they (probably correctly) figure that the game will appeal more to males anyway.

Cool walkthrough other than that, though.

Yeah, male.

No matter what, his name WILL be Michael Thorton, and he'll be voice over.

I actually like this. It kinda goes into the Mass Effect style, to have a character you can customize incredibly...but still have a character. With a name, and a voice, rather than a nameless...voiceless guy.

I prefer having a character that's got those types of definition, even if I have to give away some levels of customization.

In the end, being able to change his hairstyle, facial hair, and look, is enough for me.

Mass Effect allowed you to be female, though. Saints Row 2 allows you to be male or female with 3 different voices for each. I guess Obsidian didn't want to spring for a female recording of all Michael's lines.

I'm not saying I need a female option, but it's nice when they include it if they're going the character customization route.

Yeah, I tend to play as a female if the option is available because all the other times I'm playing as grizzly dudes who want to shoot ****.

My chick in Mass Effect is a badass.

I started out Saints Row 2 with a tranny who looked like Jimmy Smits, but when I learned about plastic surgeons I decided to make her more feminine. There's something more satisfying about clobbering people with a baseball bat as a woman.

same here

So, is this game still coming out on time or is it June 6, 2010 now?

To answer your question no. IGN has the date changed to the 26th of october now the day before border lands is due to come out. and those were the two last games I'd pick up this year.
so I'll be back at that same store I'm picking this up from the day after. their probably did it to polish it off . also due to some complaints here. like making J.B. here panic. poorkid. way to go flash facts. But this is a good thing. The more time they take to make this a better game all the better for us.

hmm it's been pushed back to next summer according to some retailers. but it's still 26th of oct for most places. For now. If it goes ether way good. I can wait. if that's the time they need to make this game better all the better.

Not really too disappointed because I'm running low on money. Hopefully they'll take this extra time to polish it.

Agreed. I'm low on cash, and this will allow me to not have to make hard choices. But, I fear of what 2010 will bring me and my wallet.

I'm all for it, so long as it gets polished up and it's up to par with expectations.

It's quite a delay, though. Not exactly a little extra time, but pushing it back to Spring 2010 is quite a bit of a push back.

It is, has me worried that they just might shelve it until its release and then Obsidian will already be working on other games by the time it comes out.

Interesting, too. I was listening to the Joystiq podcast, and they mentioned that it's impossible to get SEGA's reps to comment on anything.

Saying it's the longest wait to announce a delay on any game they've seen.

The delay wasn't actually confirmed until the day it was actually released. So, I'm sure a few people probably went to Gamestop expecting the game to be out.
