Alpha Protocol

It has been delayed once again, for a fall release...damn it.

We had a few reasons for doing it. One: We wanted to position it better, give it a lot of time. The main reason: We really wanted to polish the game up, make it everything Obsidian planned it to be, and give the consumer a very polished game.

We added a couple of other things. Tweaks in lighting here and there, added the inventory comparison screen so you can compare what you're buying to what you have equipped. Just bringing the whole quality level up.

I´m still very excited for this game, as i´m a big fan of Obsidian since they were called Black Isle (Fallout I & II, Icewind Dale I & II, Planescape Torment, Baldur´s Gate: Dark Alliance I & II).
It´s true that since Black Isle was closed and reborn as Obsidian, they are not as good as they were previously, but it´s also true that their games so far are sequels to Bioware games (KOTOR II and Neverwinter Nights II, as they are are big friends of Bioware since the Icewind Dale days), so, Alpha Protocol is their first original Ip with the Obsidian label.
Can´t wait...

I just hope they return to form soon enough and that Alpha Protocol makes them return to my own patheon of developers as they were back in 2003 (my 3 fav developers were the 3 Bs: Bioware, Blizzard and Black Isle)

Damn, I forgot about Alpha Protocol. Their inability to get this game out the door makes me wonder if New Vegas will be any good or not. Hopefully that's their primary focus.

I didn't forget about it. but it's been too quite of late. so I'm hoping their putting really good work into it. by the time it comes out.

Any way I have Masseffect 2 keeping me busy until both this and splinter cell come out. and I'll buy bioshock eventually. I'm in no hurry for that latter one cause I have to finish the first game and I bought ce's for both startrek online and masseffect 2 and I'm enjoying both.

June is when Metroid: Other M comes out, so this will probably get put on the back burner. Nice to have a date, though

Alpha Protocol set for June 1.

I like the new cover art, too.
I was just about to post this information but I stoped to answer your question in the Mass Effect thread heh.

I agree I think the new cover art is much better.

The graphics of the game however are looking very dated despite the claims of SEGA and other random blogs. Hopefully the gameplay and story will out weigh its lack of graphical prowess as it did for Dragon Age.

I really want this game to be good, but I'm feeling pretty wary about. Alpha Protocol always seemed to me, to be some sort of response to Mass Effect; Mass Effect with spies. And in early 2008 that seemed really cool, but with ME2 having just come out and generally being universally awesome I'm worried that this game is going to seem sort of behind the times.

nah their taking it in this game play style to differentiate it's self from splinter cell which it would have been compared to completely if they didn't add the social talk trees etc. don't for get Jason and the argonauts and a few other games had this thing that mass effect is know for. talk trees wise and making choices. but those didn't do as good. This actually has a chance. I hope that with all this time they have and the fact that their a part of the same company that made fallout 3(please tell me they have some of the creative team that worked on that touching this.) there's plenty of interesting things to do and play and lots of spy gadget's to add to this, to make this stand out game from even masseffect 2 .

here's a new video btw.

Mass Effect with spies sounds awesome to me. I'm a huge fan of espionage, and RPG...so mashing those to together sounds like my cup of tea.

I'm worried about the release date, though. I hear that they're done with the game and are only bug testing the hell out of it. Last I heard, they had found and cleaned up about 3,000 bugs/glitches with still more to comb through.

It is a problem, however, when you delay the game and don't tell anyone until the day after it was supposed to be released. People going to the gamestore to pick up the game, only to be told it's not there can piss off your consumers.

Dang you beat me to it. hmm looks cool I'm expecting more gadgets though. but i'm guessing their trying not to spoil it all.

Black Isle was an amazing developer, then it got closed, and then it was reborn as Obsidian.
Sure, so far, Obsidian only made sequels to Bioware titles (KOTOR 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2), so, this is their first new Ip, and i really hope they don´t mess it up.

If this games is as good as Black Isle games (Fallout and Icewind Dale), this game can very well be one of the best this year.
