Got this on Monday, but I've been slammed at work. I'm afraid I don't even have much time now, but thought I'd give a place for people to put their thoughts since it's coming out today.

Normie throws around some subtle hints that he knows who Menace is (see if you catch them), although that could be Dan screwin' with the audience. We all know he loves to do that.

Not much else. Great Cover!

I felt let down by this issue. The cover shows Gobby and Spidey beating the snot out of each other
but Norman doesnt even suit up.
:cmad:

What happens in the issure? I'm pretty curious what happens with Brock "helping Peter" and the menace battle?

This issue sucked even by BND standards. Issues 2 and 3 were the best ASM issues since this ret con, and now it shows that this arc was only made to rope in people that felt burned by OMD/BND. We get to find out that Anti Venom can't do anything, but rant about cancer and give chemotherapy hugs.

Then we get just about everything from this craptastic status quo jammed down our throats in the latter half of the issue. People said they'd pick this arc up if we weren't constantly reminded of BND, well the honeymoon's over. Harry should've stayed dead, and the rest of these new cast members should all be put in to coma's then pimped out to horny truck drivers by shady orderlies. Especially Vin Gonzales. I now more than ever hope this arc does more harm then good and turns away more people from Amazing.

I'm going back to the store to read part 5 tomorrow by the way. I should have a review up by night time.

Brock finds he has radiation in his blood, and tries to drain it from him. Spider-Man knows he'll lose his powers from this and after that he seems like he may or may not have lost a bit of it.

Menace rants about manipulating politics to gain real power, and Osborn says all he ever wanted was Spider-Man. Osborn figures which of his safehouses were raided by Menace, and at some point Menace punches the crap out of him and leaves him saying he isn't worth his time.

So Menace is nothing more than yet another Goblin character that get's the suit and powers from finding a warehouse containing Goblin stuff. ::yawn:: I know I know it might've been sought after, but they've got an entire BrainTrust of the smartest most creative people in the world with Zeb Wells being the smartest with the 480 IQ should put more thought in to this. Maybe Marc Guggenheim could add more brains to the trust if that "masterpiece" Eli Stone get's canned.

Did I mention how stupid it is that Harry's back?

Can you please wait until Weds., October 1st, when the issue comes out?

I'm sure you'll use spoilers, but that's not that point. Once spoilers get out, people start talking about them. Eventually some of those people forget to use spoilers and story elements are leaked and then ruined for others.

Out of respect for those who haven't the read the book yet, and the team who've worked very hard to put that book out, can you please not post spoiler filled reviews until the day of the book's release?

Also Miken, if I may add... if you're going to read the issue and read it again and again, perhaps you might actually PURCHASE the book. Skimming is one thing, but I can just see you as one of those people who's at the comic-store for an hour reading every issue of every comic he supposedly hates just so he can give a more informed indignant rant about it later on. You can whine and moan about BND and not buy it, or you can buy it and whine and moan. But it takes a particular creature who goes to the comic-shop again and again to read an issue in the store and then give an angry internet review, based on a product others have actually invested money in.

PS: Dan, bring back Kaine. And Hypno-Hustler.

If those two had appeared in "New Ways to Die" it would have gone from cool to effin' awesome.

Is it alright if we tease a little?

Kaine would be a bum. He would have no memory of who he is, since he wouldn't remember Peter's ID or the fact he's a clone of him. But a crazy bum with awesome bum powers.

See I think it's more honest than people that say buy a bendis book they know they're going to hate just to ***** about it. I'm obviously not buying anything spider-man related that's not alternate reality or Avengers/Invaders (I'm a sucker for these stories) but I've read a few at the store or a friends house. I was curious if there was something to this new change and with guys like Well's there, prejudiced against it as I was, I was curious.

If you're boycotting, you boycott. You don't put money into something you don't like just so you can rip into it "properly" by some people's standards.

Everyone here cares about Peter Parker, yes even those that hate this new irresponsible moron that he's become. We read some of the issues from time to time to get a gauge on just when their going to be compelled to undo this mess and then we can start reading about our favorite character again. It's not that we want the writers to fail, or for Quesada to suffer or apologize (the psychos think that, but I don't consider myself part of that group) we just want spider-man to resemble a hero. We're happy when sales drop or stories fail because that's the only way we can read spider-man again, not for vindictive reasons. Frankly it's inevitable with the current prediciment the brain trust is in, it's just a question of when for a lot of us.

Miken, I've defended you a lot on these boards, sometimes when you've gone over the top but don't spoil the issue before it comes out. I have to admit I'm curious myself, but that said it paints us boycotters in a negative, vindictive and childish light. It's like at the conventions when some protester makes a scene. They think they're helping but really they just make their argument and side look like lunatics. Just hang on a bit, then rip in with the review the day it comes out. Please don't make us look petty.

What a minute, I'm confused. I know he SAID part 5 (#572) but I assume he meant part 4 (#571) since he stated he was also going back to the store to read it.
Also, isn't part 5 out on the 17th? And if it was part 5, how is he going to the store to read it? What the heck did I miss and where is this store that gets future stuff before it's released! I wanna pull a back to the future and pick up a future sports almanac. ;)

Thanks for that. So many people forget to do this. Nothing i hate more than people who forget to use spoilers and i accidentally read something i did not want to see.

One thing I don't get about the Thunderbolt's taking on Spidey (not a spoiler for the latest issue as its a constant in the arc so far). Back in the 70's, in a Marvel Team-Up I think, Spidey fought Radioactiveman and every time he got close, he would feel woosy and lose his powers a bit. Something to do with the radiation emitted all the time by Chen messing with the radiation in Spidey's blood. To beat him he had to wear a lead suit and have Iron Man's help.

In this arc however, he feels fine around Chen yet they make the major focus of the issue this week
the close quarters effect of Peter to Eddie after Eddie tampers with the radioactivity in Peter's blood and even make it a weakness to exploit in the next issue

One would say that with his new suit, Radioactive Man doesn't affect SPidey like he use to. That or the writers forgot lol

His store apparently gets it a few days (a week) early.

All stores get a pack of Marvel and DC books a week early called First yLooks. Most stores just put them in the window with a sign saying "NEXT WEEK!" Others actually let customers read them. Guess what my store does.

Oooh... let me guess...

Your store has a trained monkey that lets you look at the pretty pictures...

I bet that's it...

:yay:

Lovin NWTD, but I wish the colourist would make up their mind as to whether or not Norman has a buzz cut!
