Nice video. It looked to me like they cut the combat to early and that spidey was about to flip over the guy attacking him.

Hello everyone. Sorry I've been lurking around for quite some time. lol
I hope you can accept me as a fellow foreign member. ;)
Anyway, the game looks very good. Combat looks fine, I just wish I could see some counter-attack or spectacular spidey-like dodge.

Unfortunately my expectations were much higher for the combat. It really looks like edge of time to me. In that^ video we see spider-man deliver a spinning roundhouse to one guy, then punch him in the head 3 times (using the same animation), then jump off his shoulders, pull himself into the guy's back using web, kick off of his back and finally punch him in the back of the head. He does all of this without even knocking the guy to the ground. The guy has the same grunt/knockback reaction to every impact. Mike Tyson could probably knock the average guy over with a single punch, how can Spider-man be so ineffective as a fighter to do all that pointless dancing around without even knocking the guy over?

Hmm, you have a point. But there are 3 difficulty levels and maybe you CAN knock over a guy in a few hits in, say, normal or easy difficulty.
Besides, Spidey usually doesn't use his full strenght against normal grunts. :cwink:

Even without full strength, he doesn't need more than 1-2 punches to take down normal people. Heck, he could probably knock you out with a flick of his finger. But I realize that would make the game too easy.

My only issues with that new gameplay footage was some slight popping in the sky and on the Oscorp building, and the really floaty cars Rhino tosses like they have no weight to them at all. Hopefully those things look better in the actual game, no big deal. Awesome footage, though!

The interview clearly has both finished and unfinished footage

Yeah, that's probably it. :oldrazz:
The grunts in Spider-Man 2000 could take at least 3 hits, lol. They got that right there. But I'm sure they were a little more tough on hard mode.

Not if they were to increase the damage done by enemy weapons. I'd be fine with defeating minor opponents with 1-2 punches if they can kill me with say 1-2 close range shotgun blasts. It'd be great to have the ability to control your strength in the way Spider-man is meant to. Suppose you could tap the button to perform a fast light punch that would daze someone, or hold the button and unleash a slower heavy punch that would launch someone through the air.

I fear that could make the game rather frustrating. I'd definetely put that option on a higher difficulty though, to test your limits. :woot:
The charged punch sounds cool. Maybe there will be something like that in some unlockable combo or skill.

That's coming out tonight?

Greg Miller posted this yesterday:

Interviewing @beenoxteam's @ltcooldee for #UpatNoon tomorrow. Got Qs about #AmazingSpider-ManTheGame? Send them to me, maybe win a copy.

That says to me that he did the interview yesterday for today?

I think he meant that he was doing the interview today, I'm pretty sure it's releasing on Monday.

Story -Wise, which smiper-man game have you liked the most?
for me, its PSX spider-man for first, with USM running in second

Smiper Man, Smiper Man....does whatever a smiper can... :woot::cwink:

My favourite games to play were SM2 and USM. You should've seen me the first time I got to free swing through New York....I didn't even bother with the story for a good week.

Dee confirmed on his Twitter account yesterday that his Up At Noon segment will run on Monday, June 4.

Most of this interview shows stuff we have already seen and Dee talks about stuff we've already heard about.

At around the 1:13 mark we get another look at the combat and it looks...well, it looks kinda stupid. I'm not sure stupid is the right word, maybe...awkward...or stiff. I'm not sure how to describe it but I was very unimpressed about how it looked. The animations were almost droopy. Why was Spidey's head looking at the ground when throwing those punches? Oh, and would you call those punches? They looked more like slaps. Did not like. Hopefully we get a much better look at the combat system during E3.

Everything else in the video looked great though. The graphics are sharp and the stealth moves were a definite upgrade over the Noir visuals.

Storywise:
SM2
USM
Both PS1 Spidey games

And to a lesser extent, Edge of Time

I think the combat looks spectacular, much more realistic than past games, looks like Arkham. Maybe some animations are a bit stiff, but I think it¡s going to be incredible to play with.

I agree with Webhead, and take back my defending of the combat a few pages earlier. This Spidey may not be a seasoned fighter yet, but he could at least look up. And as said before, he looks weaker than me, with ALL those strikes and not a single KO. It is less flashy and superficial, but his attacks still look stupid, IMHO. Web rush and free roam have me very excited, but not the combat. Wasn't Peter supposed to be inspired by the "lucha-libre" fighting style? This looks more like Nacho libre, lol.

long story short, i'm unimpressed with the combat.
