Amber Heard just can't stay away from our genre (not that I'm complaining) as she'll be joining another horror vet, Odette Yustman (Cloverfield, The Unborn), in And Soon the Darkness, a remake of the 1970 British thriller being co-produced and co-financed by Studio Canal. Heard is already starring in a vary of genre films including All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Zombieland, The Stepfather and John Carpenter's The Ward. A scream queen? She's working fast at earning that title. Read on for the details on Darkness.

Set in Argentina, "Darkness" tells the story of two American girls on a bike-riding trip in a remote part of the country. When one of them goes missing, the other must find her before darkness falls and her worst fears are realized.

The original was set in France and tackled the idea of how vulnerable a stranger in a strange land can be.

Heard also is making her first foray into producer territory, acting as a co-producer on the film, which marks the feature directorial debut of commercials helmer Marcos Efron.

The new "Darkness" will shoot in Argentina.

I just watched the original last week and I was thinking, "This is a nice little gem that Hollywood hasn't found yet". Well, I guess I was wrong.

I'll see the remake anyway, 'cause the main stars are hot. :P

Odette confuses me. She's hot but at times, too skinny. Not long afterwards, she's hot again...

: (

BLASPHEMY!!! Odette is always hot!!!

I know, ,I just can't stand the fact that she'll never be with me :(

:( :(

karl urban still has a bad taste in my mouth after pathfinder/doom.... i dont like him very much

Urban will more likely play the detective on vacation and Adriana Barraza the old "do-not-go-to-the-forest" "guy". ;)

Gee, how will Yustmen ever top her dead-eyed mannequin-like performance in The Unborn???

I know! Nudity!

Maybe then people will actually stay awake all the way through.

Hmm. The original had no nudity. Sun bathing in bikini is possible. They did it in micro shorts and tiny t-shirts in the 70's version.

Though, you know, I'm not against it if they decide to go with nudity. :p

Oh boy, another crappy horror movie! Woohoo! Can't wait.

Another vapid post from someone that thinks horror movies suck because they're horror movies, Woohoo!

I love Odette and the premise sounds pretty interesting.

"Gee, how will Yustmen ever top her dead-eyed mannequin-like performance in The Unborn???"

Yeah, she was one of the most emotive mannequins ever...

Her Unborn (which I saw with a sold out audience that was quite energetic the whole way through, btw) performance was far from stellar, but it was even farther from terrible.

BONES McCOY IS IN DA HOUSE!!!

In all seriousness, I'm really stoked. I hope Karl Urban gets the work and notoriety that he deserves.

No, I think he thinks its gonna suck cause its a remake, and thats what everyone likes to believe that a film will suck no matter what.

I will point out that this movie seems to have no ties at all to the usual susppects in horror remakes. Therefore, the percieved suckage of those films should carry no weight in the quality of this film. If it was Platinum Dunes making it id understand, but its not.

Amber Heard and Odette Yustman in Bikinis = Epic Win

BD reader 'Imbored' sent us a link to two new images from Studio Canals' remake of And Soon the Darkness, one of which features the lovely Amber Heard and Odette Yustman in bikinis. For real, how can you lose by reading on? You can't. Set in Argentina, Marcos Efron's flick tells the story of two American girls on a bike-riding trip in a remote part of the country. When one of them goes missing, the other must find her before darkness falls and her worst fears are realized. The original was set in France and tackled the idea of how vulnerable a stranger in a strange land can be.

What the hell does that mean? Is that internet slang or something?

OTT: What the hell happened to Mandy Lane anyway? This has a UK DVD but no American release yet? Is that right?
